The head of Gulf Oil came out yesterday and predicted that gas would hit a low of less than $1.00 in the new year...

Hmmm...time will tell....

A silver lining! Let it be. Let it be.

we're still at $1.97 here (it dropped .02 yesterday)

i wonder if they are going to blame W. for this....
Yea, Bush and the Big Oil companies got together to get gas to $1.00 a gallon to undermine Obama's green efforts.

Interesting side note, all during the campaign Obama talked about the windfall profit tax on the Big oil companies which was going to be used to fund a middle class stimilus package. It seems to have dropped off the radar.

I wouldn't get too dang excited about gas under a $1.00.

When I lived in OKC in the 90's there at the end it got as low as .69 cents.

I remember when people were crying that is was $1.40!!!

If oil gets under $30- $40/ barrel, that is bad news for the economy. Almost worse than $4.00/gallon for gas.

The bottom line is we do need to find alternative fuels gradually, but not too slowly. If we give up oil all at once, all the oil industry will go under. All those jobs will be lost.

The car makers needed to be a little more aggressive about the type of cars they made as well, now they are crying..

Anyway I need to get ready for work

Here on base it's $1.63 I believe....I was shocked!!

well, it's cause you live in Cali big Ted. If ya lived in oil country, you'd understand.

$1 or < would...

...scare the dickens out of me.

That would mean the economic conditions have gotten SO bad, that:
The law of supply & demand would use gas as a text book case...low demand due to LESS MOVEMENT of goods, a direct result of LESS PRODUCTION, a direct result of LESS DEMAND FOR GOODS = greater supply which = lower prices.

Don't know about you, but I think the rational - possibly reasonable - value of a gallon of gas would be in the $1.50 range. A good part of the reason it's lower now is the demand has reduced. And other reasons, of course...

Anyway, what do I know...I'm just a dumb ol' florist - a small businessman who is struggling to make ends meet. I don't know what reality is...the media & the government does.

PS - and I guess no economic stim. package, as Oil Profits were gonna pay for it.... supposedly...

Did George get caught with an intern?

Sweet!

$1.56 here today...

Oil around $42-47.00/bbl would be good....keep gas prices down, and still generate profits for the oil companies.

Time will tell, but the Saudi's are getting a bit worried about us developing our own new oil platforms, as well as the potential for Canadian Crude (has a nice ring to it) thinking that they will not be needed a few short years down the road.

Did I hear right, Canada has more oil than the Saudi's anyway??

Hear the same thang...

Also, the Saudi's have lost some coin with our economy tanking. Dunno...thinking this deep at this time of day is gonna make my head hurt, so not even gonna try.

Back to my Standing Spray for tomorrow am.

(yes, me the newest designer on the staff. Got to... It's good to grab a knife again...)

If it gets that low, we're all in trouble.

Now everyone, go buy gas!!!! Crank up your thermostat and lets get the price of oil back up there!!!

$87.00 a barrel, here we come............. :>

Rock on.......................

Years ago, out in my neighborhood, my friend took the back two acre's of her land and added two gas tanks underground, filled them up, and NEVER went without gas. I wish I had not laughed at her...she still has the tanks and has driven on much less costly gas for the past year than any of us....and no she is not interested in sharing...lol
If I had enough money to do it, I'd be putting in one myself right about now....along with an underground generator...hindsight...got lots of it!

hmm, in our neck of the woods, underground tanks have massive governmental restrictions and anyone with them has ultra massive insurance as well as being watched by the EPA inspector on a regular basis...

Interesting note.

In our area, during the go-go days of the last few years, the cities were putting restrictions on water usage. We had shortages. They put water rationing for watering lawns, using an odd/even day system.

Well, now that the economy tanked, water demand is now down by 30%.

Well, for the solution..................They are now talking of raising the water rates by as much as 65%.

Let's see here, Andy. We use less, like they ask and then we get to pay more for using less. Something is wrong with this picture!
