1-800-Flowers posts Q1 Results

Thanks Cathy, can't wait to hear about the conference call.

In the mean time, this statement jumped at me. Also, looking at the GPM, I was shocked to see how low it is for 1800, Bloomnet is much closer to my own, I cannot believe they can survive on that.

This excerpted statement is the one that caught my attention.

BloomNet Wire Service: Revenues were $15.0 million compared with $13.8 million in the prior year period, primarily reflecting increased wholesale product orders from florists, including the Company’s new exclusive line of Yankee Candle products. Gross margin was 56.6 percent, compared with 58.2 percent in the prior year period, primarily reflecting product mix. Category contribution margin was $4.3 million compared with $4.1 million in the prior year period

Clearly they are going to learn if they have not already that they just don't make good florists but they sure can sell stuff. The franchising especially will hugely improve their numbers, if not the numbers for those who bite the apple.

Makes me wonder if Team Floral is helping in acquiring, it certainly appears as though they are putting together a package.
