The numbers are out:

Third Quarter Results

No time to summarize ATM.

Notably, BloomNet was the only division seeing an increase over last year - but they also acquired Napco last summer so income from florists is down, too.

Retail sales in Consumer Florals division down 23.5% from $141M to $105M.

More later.

Look at the drop in gross profit margin and more importantly in gross profit dollars. The margin is down because they are trying to buy business with very low offerings but are not getting enough extra volume to hold the gross proffit dollars. wonder what there statement will look like come this summer?

In other words, Bloomnet florists are bailing out 1800flowers. Not that they know that's what they are doing. In a crude calculation, I think Bloomnet florists on average have paid about $1,000 bail out money to 1800 in the last Q, - the money that they could have used to bail themselves out.

so will they go to the "well" for more $$.

Would you like door #1 or the box that the pretty man is standing next to?

Can't help but think that the only reason Bloomnet was the only profit maker for 18F, was because of a dues increase or some new fee, new mandatory thing members had to buy, etc...

For the life of me and my business, I don't know why anyone would be a WS affiliate of 800.

I have never seen any shop use that as a network sending service.

That reminds me, I need to post a pic of the TF/FTD directories again.

I did this earlier this year, guess which one shrank in size?

You believe that nonsense? The less members, the less endpoints, the less income - and florists have been - and continue to be - their highest source of bottom line profits.

That's why the CEO plays up stuff like rekindling the Districts - to play to the core troops who recall the glory days of long ago.

I believe it, because I've been hearing it for well over 5 years.

Generalities suggest that florist "continue to be - their highest source of bottom line profits."

Specifics suggest that over 50% of these same florists provide little to their bottom line...and would be of little consequence if no longer members.

Now if they could only ensure that the "right" 50% leave...;)
