Had a guy come into the store today hoping to get us to sign up for his service... I took one look at his logo "1-800-Flowers" and let Gudrun handle him. :) Apparently they've linked up with Bloomlink and have better rebates than the big 2 services, yadda yadda. If you haven't gotten a visit from these guys yet I'm sure they're headed your way.

And our answer was 'no', of course.

Oh Goody, SOme action....did you tell him to come and visit me...Oh please make my day....
Luc

Should he show up here he might land at Hugh's :buttkick

I'll gladly handle it from there!!! :smash :boomsmili :walking:

Heheh, I was nice (yea, I know, big shocker there) and I didn't sic him on anyone I like.

He's lucky, today he got Gudrun... if he'd shown up tomorrow, he'd have had to deal with Shirley. Mwuahaha.

800Floozie

is only looking for florists in smaller markets, where, it either makes no sense to build an LFC, or two, where they have no coverage and are unable to get orders filled...

Where is Paul Revere when you need him?

How can 800-Flowers give rebates?
Are they now accepting orders from florists?

800 has always had the ability to transefer orders from florist to florist thru Bloomlink...

How do you send an order through Bloomlink?
Must be something new.
At least is news to me.

Well ya got me there, but I assume it works similar to the Dove or old Mercury systems... I do know it is PC based, saw it once...

Of all the installs I have done, only one florist had it, and I did not take the time to find out, kind of a non-issue far as I am concerned.

Anyone else??

funny... I had an applicant in here yesterday...He owned 2 shops on the East Coast. His sister now owns one, and his dad another. His sister proudly fills for 1-800-fakers as often as she can...as do a LOT of florists I know(ok, MOST florists I know). Of course, none that visit these boards...It just amazes me just HOW MANY florists there are that completely "RUIN" what we all seem to be striving for. Us whole whopping 100 active users here almost "vs" the other tens of thousands of "unplugged" florists that love to fill fill fill for any OG out there. He gave me a dirty look when I told him we don't fill for someone that can't fill for or do anything for us. Like I was absolutely insane for not taking 800 orders. Do you honestly think that our anti-OG numbers are growing, or are we fighting a losing battle?

"Florists" seem so proud to slap a 800 logo on a truck and go to town filling their orders exclusively...So my innocently ignorant question is "Are they really doing THAT well filling for these types of companies? And is that where our future lies?" I really hope not...It just seems to go against all of my floristy instincts.

Finally, I'm sure this must have come up before. What about increasing florist and consumer awareness through ads? Ads in Florist's Review targeted to shops and what about SAF? Do they have any say in this? If every one of the anti-OG shops on this board contributed a very small amout towards consumer awareness, as a whole, we could afford billboards, radio slicks, and print ads to promote direct orders. Has anyone considered putting their $$$ where their mouth is?

Good points Dana

and yes, there is something about McCann that rubs me too...

There is money to be made on INcoming orders, IF, and thats a BIG "IF" you know what you are doing and watch your cogs TIGHTLY. A friend of mine has an 800 LFC in Boston, seems to be doing well with it.

Anti OG numbers growing... I would day so, all beit slowly...

And yes, there has been discussion in the past about a consumer awareness program, but IMHO SAF is NOT the venue. Any organization that puts TOm Butler of Teleflora on the board as the RETAIL Representative does not, in my opinion, have the florists best interests at heart.

I have several flowerSoft customers that have Bloomlink and one large LFC and I have no idea how you would send an order through Bloomlink. flowerSoft interfaces with Bloomlink. When 800-Flowers orders are received, they automatically transfer to flowerSoft. None of these customers are able to send orders through their Bloomlink systems. AFAIK all you can do is receive orders and send messages. Maybe is something they are planning to do in the future?

From a profit stand point(for 800), it would make sense to be able to allow them to send as well and charge a per order fee (TAX).

I will investigate more when I have time....

Unfortunately, I know that orders can be sent through bloomlink and the ability to do so has been available on the bloomlink website for a while. I am not sure how long, but it has been years. Yes we filled for them for about 8 years up until late last summer when we finally told them we were done. It’s a long story which I have told here before so I will not go into it. The sending orders menu was not easily seen from your main log in but it was there. We only used it when someone for whatever reason thought those silly birthday cake arrangements was the way to go on a wire out.
The split was similar to FTD and TELE only not even as much. They suck.
