I have always tried to do the best job I can for any wire service that will allow me to. We dont carry many if any codified product accept this Mothers Day we did carry a few. I cannot believe that 1800 would suspend us right in the middle of Mothers Day Holiday ( Sat.). Said we were turning to may arrangements down. However we had turned 5 down because they were in a town we dont deliver to. They know this! Yet here we are now with this codified product we didnt even get a chance to sell. There are three florist in this town that are members of 1800 and Charlottesville is not a small town. The other florists had shut their systems down and were not taking any orders from them. We knew this because all of suddden 1800 was telephoning us to see if we could fill an order, one after another. We told them we were suspended and didnt understand it. The operator on the phone couldnt understand it. But nothing was done about it. We contacted our local rep. who use to work for FTD and he said he would check into it. Like we really had all this time to even deal with such a thing since we were so busy. They finally took us off suspension yesterday Sun. at around 12 noon and all these arrangements came through for this week. ( Not for Mothers Day ) These wire services act as though you work for them and they make you! Buddy, They have another thing coming! Has anyone had anything like this happen to them?

Funny... I rejected almost every order they sent me because they were below our codified minimum and they did not suspend me... I did turn them off myself Saturday...

Came in this morning to a boat load of orders for today...all rejected... looks like they continued to take orders for the last 48 hours....

No thanks, not putting my name on a late Mothers Week gift....

Looks like to me they would want you to fill as many as you can. I have never had anything like this happen with FTD. If you cant do the arrangement well dammit you cant do the arrangement! Whats the big deal! One of the arrangements was nothing but all sunflowers and we couldnt do it. But they said we had turned to many down.

This has been a problem for years, BUT 800 is the WORST. Selling out of season items all the time.

IMO, the wires should limit selection at a holiday to 10-12 "best selling cookie cutters"..that would get more of them filled...

But who really cares... they be dinosaurs, just not dead....yet.

Don't want to sound rude, but I can't find the right words to say... if you are filling for them and they penalize you when you don't, then you do work for them.

I agree. I always feel like the sender will lie to the recipient telling them it's late because of us...

Intimidating a local florist into accepting orders outside their area with the threat of being cut off entirely should have legal ramifications.

The hardball tactics I'm reading today sound like the WSs and OGs are getting close to or even over the line.

Cutting off orders to shops to whom they've already given projections is a form of extortion. The stores are ready & stocked with perishable products. The loss of a large number of anticipated orders could take a small shop under - or at least cause them great financial harm.

You cannot simply, unilaterally expand an agreement and then penalize a company for failing to perform it instantaneously.

Well.. When I was a member it happened all the time - I even had one customer service rep at 1800 tell me that "You work for us and you will get this order out today!" It was a Saturday and I was setting up a large wedding - told them I could not fill the order - I wasn't even at the shop. I dropped them the following Monday.

No one!!! Not even my mother... tells me how to run my business! Why the HE?& would 1800 flowers think that they can tell me what to do??

With them - The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing!!

Drop them! You don't make money off the orders - really - sit down and do the math -and don't forget to figure in all of those great containers that cost you $9 each.. who pays this for a container for a $35 arrangement??? OMG!?? Now you have to sit on them...

Again - Can we please form the Florist's Mafia - I think it would get us some air time...:O) I will be president and spokeswomen! Don Tammie!

I've sent my notice today...

"Remove me from the list. Effective today, Monday May 11th, 10:32am, my store will no longer fill for FTD.com no matter the circumstances".

Cancelled FTD before Valentines Day & blocked Teleflora.com/HSN 2008 Mother's Day.

We had the smoothest Mother's Day we've ever had and were up 30% in credit card sales, up 35% in cash sales, down 40% in COG's, had 3 less designers & 4 less delivery drivers (which incompassed rental vans, gasoline, extra ins. & hazards of that many folks on the road). Our telephones sales team didn't spend half their time sending asks & refusals. Designers were able to customise for customers based on what we had or could get locally. We have only had one complaint and that came in Sat that we had left a yellow gingham bow off an order that came in from "From you flowers" KICK ME SILLY :hammer:THAT I WAS FOOLED BECAUSE THEY HAD GOTTEN DOUBLE THE MONEY FOR AN UPGRADED VERSION OF A MIXED VASE ARRANG.

This is my 40+ Mothers Day in the business...I've been a very slow learner.
