250 FTD jobs coming to Sherwood Arkansas

Yep...I wrote about this previously...but what that article did not mention is the 250 jobs they are eliminating in Downers Grove.....

They are moving the call centers for FAH (flowers all hours) and for FTD.com to Arkansas...good thing for them but bad for the employees in Chi-town...

Obviously this is a move for the investors and to boost the bottom line in light of the losses they are incurring in the member sector that will continue to increase as time goes on.

I'm pretty sure (know) they feel they can reduce costs based on the prevailing wage difference between the two locations as well as reduce the benifit expenses on current employees...and judging by the last line of the article...I guess they did not talk to any Real Florists...again...

Next thing I think they **may** do is move the technology support division as well, but then one of their best techs is already in Arkansas. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I heard TF has some of their tech phone folks in the Phillipines already...

It's all about cash and the way the balance sheet looks to Wall Street...
 
The customer service center will take calls from consumers wishing to place floral orders from florists. With FTD, a consumer can have same-day floral deliveries made throughout North America.

Arkansas is only one state south of us and while I know I have an accent I can barely understand them sometimes...;-) Except of course the fine folks at media99.

Not that I am partial or anything, but my new hosting company has it's nightime tech support in the philippines, and they are WAY better than the americans you get during the day. I mean WAY better. I prefer calling at night, the americans are curt and short and want you off the phone, and the filipinos are helpful and patient and knowledgeable.

Maybe like Japanese cars? I will never buy another american car, cuz I don't think they will ever do it better than the japanese in my lifetime.

If they do it better I don't begrudge them getting the job at all.
