Its seems that one should say something rather profound and awesome in one's 3000th post, but being unable to do that, I simply want to say thank you for this board and for allowing me to be a part of it.

And now I'm off to Georgetown, SC, for a tour of plantations! Wish you were coming with us!

Love you Guys! :iwuvyou: :bouquet:

Connie,
Thank YOU for all of your helpful and encouraging information. Clearly you've got a lot to say, and I'm glad to "hear" it!

Thanks Guys! Now I really am leaving for the plantations of Georgetown, SC. My ride is a bit late, so if there an available minute, I'm on this site. There will be no computer available where I'm going, so I'll "see" you late Sunday or early Monday.

Connie every post gives us a clearer understanding of who you are... I'm grateful for the past 3000, and look forward to the next 3000 and beyond. :)

Thanks again Everyone!

The trip to Georgetown was wonderful. If you ever get the chance to do this tour, do it. Some of these plantation homes are pre-Revolutionary War. The ones that were a part of the tour are all well-maintained. Almost all of the houses had fresh arrangements, sometimes several, in every room. We were not allowed to photograph inside the homes, which are private residences, but could photograph the grounds. We were not allowed in many of the homes, only on the grounds. I took lots of pictures, but the digital camera was having problems, and I had to use a disposable camera.

While Tara ("Gone With The Wind") always comes to mind when I think of plantations, many of the ones that we saw were not on that scale, but they were wonderful nonetheless. Of the homes that we were allowed to tour inside, many had on display their sterling silver tea services, other silver items, valuable china, and other items, including one house that was decorated with several Audubon prints signed by Mr. Audubon, and which had been gifts from the artist to the landowner.

Here I go again, rambling........
