Just curious as to why you honor thier orders at all?

Knife's wife

Everyone has a choice who they deal with... Keep an eye on 800...they have some very ambitious plans and I for one, look for them to become (if they are not already) a HUGE problem for the BIG2 in the not so distant future.

Judging by their "new model" of florists membership fees being based how many orders they fill, meaning if you fill 2 a month you will pay less than someone that fills 10 or 100...

If like I have told them and said before, they change the rebate structure, thus paying the rebate (a portion) to the filler, suddenly their orders become more valuable than the others, and coupling that with membership based on what you fill, not what you send, they **may** emerge as the "different" WS...

But, what the *&^% do I know....

We "talked" about this...

in the past Mark, and as much as I hate to say this, other WS members were convinced that directly "affiliated" ( as in "franchise" floral stores) were one day gonna become the "norm" is this wacky business, and McCann, has the horsepower and will to make this happen......
I'd be very concerned...IF a shop in your area "agreed" to "fill" for 1800, on a consistent basis...it's like volume "discounts" in REVERSE

I am well aware that everyone has a choice as to who to fill for. My question was out of curiosity "Why" this shop chose to fill. I was not putting them down. I was trying to educate myself.

I also keep a very close eye on 1-800 and watch which shops in my area are filling for them. What they are selling ect...

Mikey...

We have had TWO 1800 stores open up with the Detroit area last month. One is located within 4 miles of our store and the other is in the next county over about 40 miles. Our local 800 LFC opened up shop about two years ago in this huge strip mall with about a 3,500 Square foot area. We didn't really see any drop off of sales due to this store so I guess the next best thing for them was to become 800 LFC FWOAC. Gotta pay for the rent so give me my Guaranteed Orders Quota for the day!.

Here's one ya'll will get a kick out of......

Our toll free # is a few digits off from 800 Flowers. We get calls everyday from people who dialed wrong! Sometimes we accept the order from the customer after very clearly stating that we are not them, nor are we affiliated, blah blah blah. But most of the time we just simply say, you have the wrong number.

The majority of wrong numbers though are customers complaining that their order has not been delivered, it wasn't what they ordered, their credit card bill reflects more charges than what has been agreed to, etc. It's interesting that 800 Flowers is still in business! But, then again, you should hear some of the people who call.....

Remember, too ... these are people that can't manage to dial 1-800-FLOWERS :)

I don't put too much stock in their complaints, or their ability to remember a conversation from a few days ago.

And you will see 8 more added over the next 2 years.

800's LFC franchise agreement, requires them to run two years as an LFC, then over the next 3 years to open 10 Retail outlets per LFC...so as in the case of the Detroit Metro area, with 2 LFC's there will be 20 800Retail eventually...

I don;t care what anyone says, these LFC models do work, and they do produce profit for the owner...the retail outlets will do the same. Consider that they have central design, central delivery, the ability to take orders and sell c&c at the "outlets" and pack and ship boxed flowers and "gifts" from the LFC...

McCann is perhaps the smartest person working in the floral industry to date, the guy does have a vision, and a plan to take over and control the majority of volume in many facets of the industry, and even in some areas we have not even thought about yet.

Very true Mark, might come a time when were all getting our paychecks from 800 by working at the Retail outlets.
