Besides biding my time here you fine folks, I also spend time in a woodworking forum.

Within the forum is a Design section. Tonight the moderator had us reviewing some furniture made by Po Shun Leong.

I know this forum is flowers, but his designs are inspirational.

For your viewing pleasures check out this website....

That is phenominal. Thanks for pointing it out. It almost looks like Phil
Rullodo designed it.

Very cool.... thanks for sharing....

I'd love to have a couple of those in my store for the holidays...for sale of course :)

Joe,

Thanks for sharing the link. Amazing artistry.

Seems many florists I've met have a passion for another branch in arts/crafts including music, painting, sculpting, body art, dance, film, writing, theater, photography, needlepoint, pottery, metal craft, textiles and woodworking. They often speak of the joy of creative expression with different media than flowers and how the principles of great works transfer from their hobbies to their trade. (BTW, my formal education is in music theory and composition despite working in a flower shop since I was 16.)

Funny how both woodworking and floral design are labeled as 'craft' instead of 'art' since both are considered skills to create decorative/functional items instead of 'art for art's sake' - aesthetic expression. I ran across an article written by a master jeweler that discussed the semantics of the art vs craft and agree that the lines are now so blurred that they're meaningless.

Po Shun Leong's work is high art.

Phil also say to pass along a 'Wow" from him. He has collected several contemporary wood sculptures over the years and has a great passion for gardening as an art. (Is it something about florists that our hands always need to be moving? ;) )

Again - thanks! Beautiful and inspiring.
