I have just spent the last few hours of this first day in the new year surfing the internet to find real family owned florist. I checked out websites and e-mail about 75 florist that I found and invited them to come here and see what flowerchat was all about. I wish I had a way to track how many will follow the link and come here to learn something and to contribute.
Here is the letter that I used:
If every took a little time out of busy day to send a message like this I think we could build this community of real florist in no time.
Hi,

Thanks for your assistance... I do the same thing when I come across a shop in my web searching....

My efforts are paying off...
Just received this e-mail, what should I tell him?
Dear Joan,
I went on the web site to register...but had some problems with the process. It wanted to know my refferers id? Is that something you need to give me? Let me know
Thanks,

Refferer ID is simply your FC ID...as in BOSS or Flowerknife+us etc...

Size does not matter :) it's all in how you....

I'm with ya on this one Luc.. I am working on a presentation both print and electronic (Power Point on CD) for florists in my area, and organizing a meeting for a bit down the road of all the florists in both TFTD directories and all the ones I know that are members of neither within a 50 mile radious to explain the current state of the industry.

Who knows, maybe it'll lead to a OGfree Zone. At the least I think it will change the floral landscape in my area.

I agree with all you folks are saying however, if one of the newly educated floral folks let in One Cell of the Cancer the virus will continue.

Mark and others I commend you for your actions your taking today in this rat race we have helped create in the past 10 years or so.

There is nothing I can do in our area..these folks will not listen and are unreversable in their business model.

I'm doing my best being a IFS.

2005 were still Alive!

Mike, all one can hope to do is share information, we can not make anyone listen.

But by sharing, we "plant the seed" and then maybe someday they will wake up. Once they wonder why they are not making it, or once only FWOAC's are left, they will slowly die off.

It still amazes me, that the Big2 do not care who fills their orders, often with garbage....but that too will change, once they no longer have access to a market except thru sub-standard shops.

I'm not sure about this Mark

"It still amazes me, that the Big2 do not care who fills their orders, often with garbage....but that too will change, once they no longer have access to a market except thru sub-standard shops."

I feel right now the $ervice is sub-standard and if they are... so is the Brand and Members.

The Big2? or is it going to be Three??? and will I have the last laugh watching users spend their money keeping The $ervices around for sending and receiving orders of Flowers at a DISCOUNT or the BRAND?.

It's all smack dab in front of us.....

Yes, you are right, it's all smack dab in front of us. But one thing, you don;t know is how much someone pays, or doesn;t pay...

The other thing to consider, is that for some folks, it takes longer to make arrangements to make a move this big. Like setting up CC clearings thru a local bank, because it requires re-programming of technology to make it work with their systems.

The order transfer side is the easy part, but it's all the other things that need looking after, and timing IS everything....

this is like a

toboggan ride Mikey.....start off slowly, smack a few trees, learn how to steer, and the the process speeds up......there MAY even be the odd "rock" in the way, but, eventually, EVERYONE at least "understands" the concept of moving from here to there!!
SAME thing is happening here...hang on to the "bridles"...we're going for a "Ride in 2005"!!

Love that idea. I just sent the email (added a few sentences) to ten more florists in Michigan cities.

I am surprised how very many do not have email addresses to be found anywhere. A couple I know that are real florists do not even put there address on their website.

I guess it can't hurt if a florist gets invited more than once, huh?

I am going to keep doing this a few at a time.

Looking for "real florists"

Patty,

That's the right idea...

If each FlowerChat member would invite 10 real florists per month to visit FlowerChat forum...We would all benefit from major changes in the information being posted...

Have you "noticed"....

the re-surgence of views of this site??? wonder if it has anything to do with the mulitudes of MERC/DUCKS going out with "visit FlowerChat" messages attached.

Yep I have noticed... and YES I think this is part of it... I have it going back out on delivery confirmations as well....and it is included in every ASK/ANS message as well...

Also, I have it in my email signature file. But thats just me...you know...OVERKILL!

But sometime you just gotta smack folks upside the head (some several times) for them to pay attention.

Another thought came to mind this morning... and I am going to start it today, since it will take little time and/or effort...

I am going to start sending an ASK message on every INcoming Merc order back to the florist, thanking them for the order and informing them about FlowerChat.

They will get the info again when they get my delivery confirmation, but maybe the "double tell" will prompt them to investigate....

Good idea Mark,

Sending a ask or comment about a order does not cost us more $$$$$ but it does cost more to the Big 2.
SOunds like a good way to start the new year.
