Lately, I am getting more and more incoming phone wire orders. The strange thing about this new "trend" is that when I ask them if they can send the order over Dove or Mercury so I can have it in writing, they say OK and then never do. This has happened several times a week over the past several weeks.
Just Flowers seems to be the biggest "offender".
Any thoughts??

Well I for one, call out most of our orders so, that Way I know what I am getting, well sometimes, I also fine more shops call us direct so that we get what they want,

With Just Flowers, I refuse to take it over the phone, I insist that they send it over the Machine, especially after someone said they contest it if it's just a phone order. They tell me their service is "down", I insist, they say ok and it comes in a few minutes later, you know they are following policy by lying about their machines being down. Someone else also said some of the shops recently dropped by TF have been sending orders over the phone and end up not paying as they have no wire service. Can't remember, maybe Carol Bice posted that, it's here somewhere, recently posted.

Hey Flore,

Boss is right. I have heard a few shrewd high volume shops boast that they always phone out their orders because they expect as much as 1/3 to go unreported - they don't even pretend that it's about quality or a desire to talk to the filling florist.

Happened 4 times this week. Just flowers in 3 of the cases. Wanted to know why I could not take over the phone. I told her I wanted a paper trail of the order. I got a stuttering responce. She then said ok I will send it and it never came. We are the only ftd shop here and there is not a tf or bloomnet shop here. Closest shop is 30 mins away. Guess they filled their under valued crap. I also usually don't get they order when I tell them I need 15 more dollars for delivery. I no I should not do that but they skim so much I figure if they want that order filled they can give me the full value charged to the customer. I HATE just flowers and hate even more Flowers of Cambridge wish those people would go on a cruise together and celebrate how they rip people off and oh yea....the ship would sink out in the middle of the Atlantic with no rescue vessel around. Sorry to be so out there tonight. Just shows how much I really can't stand what they do to our industry!

National Flora used to always phone everything.

Not only does Just Flowers do this, but Gift Tree does as well.

Do they still get their rebates on phone orders? If not, I guess they're playing the percentages by gambling on retaining 100% of their rebate. Perhaps the 25% chance (according to BOSS) that the filling florist won't report outweighs their $5 to $10 rebate.

The OG is betting on the florist's stupidity and/or laziness and/or unorganization and risking a sure thing in their rebate. With a one in four chance of retaining 100% of the order, who needs rebates with these tactics? Worst case scenario they still receive their 20% commission.

Ah but Darell, there is NO RISK for them....

They either get 100% (what they are hoping for) or they get $30.00++ of every $50.00 order...

It's a WIN WIN for them either way...cuz florists keep filling either way, just that some never get paid, and many probably never even know they were not...

Mark as ridiculous as it sounds, there is risk unless your 25% chance number is guaranteed. Every time they phone an order out, they are betting their rebate. It's calculated gambling.

However the point is moot if rebates are given for phone orders too.

My employee of 35yrs just retired, she did our w.s reconciliation & was very vigilant. Since she left my husband said, how hard can it be?? Not--okay, so now he is doing it & can't believe the number of call outs (we have Merc)that are never claimed. Every month he goes on & on about these stupid people, but also knows it's more $ for us. With several of them we have had our customer tell us they got a thank you & were thrilled with the flowers they received, so I know they got them.
