At least I got a warning about a Texas Florist prowling So Cal.... about a 20 minute warning!

Did you ever get a phone call about a visitor headed to your shop and think 'OMG the store's a mess'?

In a splendid Texas drawl I hear, "Hey Cathy, this is Clay. I'm on my way to your shop from Eric's." Seems Mr. Atchisson has been out and about 'viztin with' a few of the FC folks here. He first stopped by Rich's, headed to Eric's and then made his way to Anaheim.

In proper So Cal fashion, he got leid at my shop.

The visit was too brief as he had more driving to do and I had a bride's mom on the way for an appointment but it was a treat to get to meet this truly charming guy. :)

Clay, next time give us a head's up earlier and we'll really show you what the OC is all about.

I am back in hot Texas now. Since this post, I missed the last flight out of Ontario for Austin on Thursday....so I called Cathy once again to ask "whatcha doin?" (a little different than I am "fixin' to come over in 20 minutes). She told me I just passed the Highway 91 to get to her place, so this Texan cut across the lanes to exit and turned around. Had some time before Cathy closed so I went by Big Ted's place....nice BIG shop with LOTS of storage room. He even showed me the old Mr. Vissor's party apartment (man, a time warp into the 70's...still had the orange carpet, metalic wallpaper and sunken den) above the shop that is 3,000 sqft. Followed Cathy to her house after picking up some food...and what a beautifull house...up on the side of a hill over looking a great CA view. Earlier I was "leid" by Cathy and now Phil was giving me Saki (sp) to drink....it does not get any better than that (OK, stupid humor but it was great). Met their adorable 9 year old daughter, Anna, and she gave up her princess room so I would have a place to sleep (thanks Anna...I know you are reading this with your mom). We talked about different things....on how we got in the biz to what we feel is going on. Wish I could say we found some solutions. Got up this morning to what they call June Gloom (cloudy haze), went to the airport to wait for the only AM plane to Austin with 3 EXTRA stops.

I also really enjoyed meeting Rich and Eric at their shops....spent about an hour just talking and checking out their digs (yep, Eric is tall)...nice to see a face to go with a FlowerChat name.

Now if anybody from FlowerChat is even visiting South Texas, I would hope you would give me a call to come by and visit (and even stay) just like all of the South Californians did for me.

Ya' know, I wasn't gonna mention it but yes, that Mr. Beer Basket guy from Victoria slept beneath an organza canopy bedecked with silk roses, nestled peacefully in a Disney Princess sheet set.

And now you know why Saki is consumed in those little cups 'cuz if you filled a glass with it... :alcoholic

Clay, glad you made the flight. (He had to fight through Friday traffic in 'rain' (actually light drizzle) that typically paralyzes our freeways the way a blizzard would in the rest of the country.)

And Anna, nicknamed Rosie, says it was great to meet 'cha. :flower:

You know Cathy.... if there is a promise of getting "leid" when visiting your shop, you'd better prepare for a stampede. ;)

I told Cathy the next morning after I was "nestled peacefully" that I tend to sleep lightly when not in my bed and I remember more of my dreams when I wake up. This is the truth,.... I was dreaming that I was at Target/Walmart with my wife and was watching all of these high school girls carrying these hand bouquets of roses at prom time and was thinking (in my dream) there goes our prom corsage work and I had better check with FlowerChat to see if other florists were experiencing this. Pretty sick, right?

Was not sure what to call Anna since she was called Anna Banana and Rosie by Cathy. Rosie......I have seen that name before........

The temperature was GREAT while I was there....in the low to mid 70's, probably because of the June Gloom cloud cover. Came home to mid 90's and high humidity......making the heat index 106 degrees today.

So should I change my FlowerChat "handle" to the "Beer Basket Guy"?
