We are getting several requests for afghans for the funeral home. I know they use lots of them in the Northern States, what types and how to they hang at the funeral home????? Thanks.

As a Northern" shop, we sell a ton of afghans, I purchase direct from
Manual Woodworkers and Weavers, they have a showroom at Atlanta Gift, also Loom Craft sells nice afghans. Display on 54" wire easle tied on with a bow/ribbon, and can add flowers with bridal bouquet holder. Also fold and gift wrap nicely or display on large handle of a basket with flowers on one side, afghan draping on other side. Senders and recipients love the keepsake item, economically they are a great value as they are a forever not just "going to die at the cemetery"

We get our Afghans and weaved wall hangings from Manual Woodworkers and Weavers. We have one of their display racks on the wall showing Afghans, weaved wall hangings....and skinner weaved wall hanging that they call bell pulls. Interesting is that I have sold very few afghans over the years, but we have sold a lot of wall hangings and bell pulls.....because they can be included tastefully in a standing easel (more of a southern thing).

If you go to manuals website they have a video showing how they arrange the throws and other items for the funeral homes. We use a tall easel and wire a "bar" made of either bamboo or get dowel rods at walmart so you can display the throw open. We decorate the top of the throw with silk ivy, flowers and bow for 20.00 extra and most people are glad to pay the extra!

Be sure to check with your funeral home. Some of ours don't like the throws displayed open as they take up too much room. Our funeral director recommends us because they are easy for him to disassemble and give to the family after the service.

We also order ours directly from Manual Woodworkers and Weavers.

we also get ours from manual woodworkers and weavers. Like Clay we sell much more wall hangings and bell pulls than throws. Interesting to me because we are very very North. Ours goes in spurts, we will sell lots of tapestry and then for a while, nothing and back again.

To be perfectly honest, they are not a "real" good seller for us.....other accessories like Kay Berry tribute stones, Books Of Love faux tribute books, The Faith Collection crosses, and Goodin & Famous Foam faux fish/crosses/boots sell way better. Most of the Manual Weavers is sold when we pre-make them in a silk standing arrangement.
