I was just wondering if any of the members from america, canada would be kind enough to tell me what aifd is? I have read it on various posts and just not sure what it is? Thanks in advance.

AIFD stands for the American Institute of Floral Design. To become a member one must pass a written test about all things floral and also a design test.
here is more information about it: www.aifd.org

many florists and designers aspire to be a member (including myself)

Palms, some countries have fantastic national accreditations programs/qualifications:
AIFD is the USA's and they hold these amazing annual Symposiums.
It is comparable/somewhat similar to what CAFA is in Canada
NZPF is in New Zealand and what NDSF is for you in the UK

There are AIFD members all over the world. They are floral design rock stars.

Brilliant

I attended my first AIFD symposium over 16 years ago (Allen Beck became my American brother) and I have to say it changed my life and why I kept going back before I had kids.

To be honest they were the most awe inspiring days of my life and from it I made many dear friends who altho I don't see or talk to that often, gave me inspiration that I carry to this day.

Having been blessed with the chance to see design around the world I can hand on heart say that AIFD probably has some of the best and I can't wait till I can attend again.
