Hi guys,
Here is a little (well, a lot) of my history. I've owned a hair salon, bistro and an advertising/graphic design boutique. The hair salon and bistro were default businesses that my family kinda gave up on and left them to me to sort out. I turned the salon around (luckily) and was able to sell it for a small profit. The Bistro was not as much of a success though, I broke even. What I did gain was a lot of knowledge and I made some good friends.
I did freelance design work for a long time and many of my customers urged me to start up a small shop. It was a lot of hard work and I had some great creative minds that worked with me for over 9yrs. About 4 years ago I had a friend that was getting married and she asked me to do her invites. She then asked if I could decorate and do the flowers. I had taken a few floral design courses at the local communtiy college here and so I told her I would give it a shot. I've been hooked ever since. Slowly I started taking on more floral work and less graphic work. My lease on my graphic's shop was coming to an end right when the flower shop I now own was put on the market. 'Serendipitous fate' I thought. So here I am learning whole new gig at the ripe young age of 45.
Whew! And boy is this industry exciting and interesting.
