Hello my flowerchat friends!!! I have been asked to be the exclusive florist at a venue's Bridal fare/catering tasting. They were one booth away from me at the Bridal Show I attended two weeks ago. They loved my displays...... so now that I am totally brain dead from coming up with awsome stuff for that and here is what they have.. A fireplace that many brides use as a back drop for their ceremony. The manel is less than 6" wide. I am attaching a picture of it. Any and all suggestions are welcome. I am on a very tiny budget for flowers and such.

Thank you!!!!

Hi
Maybe consider running a series of same sized glass vases along the shelf and group design. Make sure you mark before you leave your shop. It makes for easier id. Thom

Do they allow candles? A varying row of floating candles in a mix of vase containers would be fairly cost effective and great impact since you will probably own the vases already and candles are cheap.

What did you do in your booth that they liked?

I know they liked the arch... and I had a variety of different boquets..

I think it's because we did different and not the normal roundy moundy bouquet of roses. I have posed some of my boquet in my album in the about me part.

Those are great pics, I love a designer who isn't afraid of that bold yellow. We are doing a bridal show this weekend in golds, purple and green.

I am sure you are going to do an awesome job!

Do you have a supply of in store silks you can use to dress it up and then take back to the shop? Would cost nothing that way. You could get by with lots more creative stuff too.

The arch framing the mantle, and candles in vases inside the fire place - "virtual fireplace".

I love the look of your booth - very nice! I especially like the narrow tables instead of the traditional tables. Easy access to everything!

I'm not sure how big you want to go, but the oasis design bars that are wrapped in plastic would be a great place to start if you do want to go big. Line the whole mantle across, or just a few. Parallel design straight out the top, vegetative design, or something that crosses back and forth between the bars would be cool. I just wouldn't cover the great wood work. You could also combine them with the suggested vases, putting either flowers in the vases or floating candles in the water at varying heights.

I wouldn't cover the woodwork either. It's beautiful! When I looked at the fireplace I saw a focal piece at the center above the mantel which then flowed down around the sides of the fireplace. I pictured something with lots of vines/twigs and ribbon intertwined flowing and trailing onto the floor a bit. Maybe even fabric and not ribbon? Will there be a real fire in there? If not I was thinking use big candles, woodsy type and the at the base some sort of soft moss blanket peppered with flowers here and there. Maybe white dendros? If you can't have the real fire or use lit candles then the sparkle lights. Oh I wish I could draw it for you...it's hard for me to describe what I see.

ETA: I just thought on the actual mantel maybe sprinkle it with glass/crystal beads, prisms or whatever so it catches the lighting from the room. Not small beads but almost like big marbles in varying sizes. sort of like a forest/fairy theme...if that helps.

We came up with something. I will post pictures later..

We did two vases for the side of the mantel and on long one for the middle. We were on the theme of less is more. I can't wait to see what they look like. We are just doing the mantel be cause of the cost restraints and decided this because it's only a two hour event and wanted to do centerpiece for their tables too.

I think everything came out great... I loved everyones suggestions, and will put them into the memory bank..

THank you!!! THank you!!

What we Did for the Mantel

Here is what we did for the Mantel. The girls that rent out the venue Loved Loved Loved it. They said all the other florist they have seen decorate it forget how beautiful it is and put tons of stuff on it, around it. It happens to share space with an art gallery and they asked it I could leave it for the week, of which I did. I even caught one bride to be taking a picture of it, and made sure to introduce myself and my business.. so we will see.

Thank you again for all your suggestions.

Karen

I would probably go a bit mad with this, i would have a front facing long and low with ruscus draping and grasses. Long enough to create the effect but not long enough to hide all the features.

I would then use a mixture of ivory roses, thistle, veronica and maybe a bit of freesia. Lots of foliages to create some really nice texture. I love the vase ideas but i would be tempted to do something a bit more traditional with this aged fireplace.
