a year ago, LAST july, so borderline 1.5 years, we started a "strip and rebuild" on a house in one of Toronto's famed districts called Rosedale, just east of Mount Pleasant Road.
When the project started, there was a Mom, a Dad, 3 daughters, and a son, along with a full time housekeeper/guardian, who moved "temporarily" into another close by home, that is slated for the same procedure, but, the owner held off, so that THIS family could move in temporarily.
The rear structural outside walls, are all Indiana limestone, 4 of the "beams" almost 22 feet long, each weighing in at over 1900 pounds, and "hand lifted" and placed on support columns, much like you'd see in Roman architecture, and then infilled with red glass brickwork.
The kitchen alone, came in at $145,000.00, PLUS appliances, and the home is heated by a 6 zone twinned Carrier Infinity systems, with 21 seer Carrier cooling units, and an automated "call in" control system.
There is a separate infloor heating system for in the basement level, and the attached garage, was converted into a Roman style bathouse, leading out to the ENTIRE back yard plunge pool, with a hot tub "insert" in one corner.
All the bannisters are African mohogany, cut, with knives SPECIALLY designed for this house, and are absolutely unique, and cannot be duplicated.......
So far, the project is almost 1.8 million, the mother has died of cancer, one daughter has left for university, and the rest of the family want to move in on the 15 of this month, and Valentines is in the middle.
IF you WANT a dilema, which would YOU choose??...work in the flower shop, or get paid 2,000.00 bucks a week, to work round the clock, to finish this home in time, and FORGET about Valentines??
Will post pics later this evening!!
