Watching an Amish barn raising or house raising is indeed a wonderful site!!
My Aunt used to live near the Amish, and we often got to experience a barn raising. ("The english" are allowed to help with minor tasks, or tasks that they need help with).
MOST tasks are done by hand tools. However, the amish tht we experienced were not shy about having someone else help with real Power tools on Barn day (or house day).
they are also some of the most generous & kind people you ever wanted to meet, and very good neighbors. When my Uncle died, and the Amish knew that my aunt was all alone, they regularly stopped by her house, to check on her, and help her with her cattle. they even arranged to get the cattle to market for here when it was time.
Neat, Neat, Neat! This is what the world should be all about.
