I am beating my head against the wall, for the 4th week in a row, trying to get an amber rose. I have gotten Macarena spray roses before and they were perfect! I keep ordering them, but no one can seem to get them anymore. I am looking for either a larger headed spray rose or a full size rose. I have been sent everything from Gold Strike (too gold & bright) to Queensday (too orange). The real color I am looking for is the color of a butterscotch cymbidium...although at this point I just want to order something I actually get. I have checked on Sierra flower finder, but have nad no luck.

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Conga, with touches of JFF tiger lily.

adjust

we have been "adjusting" colors quite a bit lately. It takes a little experimenting sometimes. use 1 or 2 or 3 colors of "just for flowers"
or even design master.

i used to think it was tacky to paint flowers, but now i do it all the time and NO ONE can ever tell ---- SSSSHHHHHH another cheap florist secret
trick!

Tracy, you truly are the JFF VanGogh...well, with both ears, and sans the mental illness. I think you should almost be on their payroll!

Thanks for all the ideas! I have been having to resort to "flower makeup" as I am calling it a little more often than I'd like to admit. :blowkiss::blowkiss::blowkiss:

Marrakesh,Milva - alittle more orange I think -Candid Prophyta,Golden Galaxy,Azafran/Saffron - best that I could come up with. You'll have to get out your almighty spray can and solve the problem

Hi Amy
try a variety called sari. I think you will like this alot if you are trying to match the yellow cymbid

He is pretty sure he can get the Macarena sprays for me, YAY!! Otherwise, I asked him to order the Sara sprays (as a back up). Since the bouquets already have Orange unique, Carmella, Sahara and Queensday I chickened out and ordered some of the Monkaras that are the gold/amber as my own little "plan b". I also have freesia, stock and orange gomphrena going in them (so it didn't have to bee all roses...this week). It just seems that as soon as the seasons started to change I was hit with all these amber/apricot weddings all at once...and I have had to wing it for 1 too many weeks now.

At least this wholesaler understands color tone (more than most)...I hate when I order lavender and get purple! In the past I have bought 64 boxes of crayons for my salesmen, as a joke. I try to not uptight, but there are certain color voids that just need to be filled.

Thanks for all the help!!!!! Hopefully, I will remember to post pictures. I have 3 weddings next weekend...not that I am complaining!!!!

I hate to spray flowers- but maybe can change with the times-do the Just for flowers sprays really work and do you spray the entire bloom or just tip them-what does it do to the stems and leaves?:help:

it's recommended to spray lightly using several coats as needed to get
the color you want, but i have sprayed very heavily and it doesn't harm the flowers. of course some flowers are tougher than others

some floral experts claim that Just for flowers" is a dye. but i maintain
that it's paint-- a petroleum based paint.

i believe that the paint/dye acts as a transpirent much like "Crowning
Glory" (sealing in the moisture) and has no detrimental effect on the petals and may make them last longer.

you have to experiment!! I think it's fun
but most importantly it's a great skill to have mastered when the
exactly perfect bridal color either doesn't come in, can't be found,
or just doesn't exist in nature

I came across a rose called Gold Milva, they may work for you too, GL!
I also like congas a lot, I do not like skyline, that roses does not perform well and tends to always be spotted.

Gold strike is the worse yellow rose of all time, I hate that variety with a passion!

Whenever we get mixed asst. cases of roses, I always get stuck with a few bunches of tight ass gold strike, they open ugly, if they open at all.
