Oh man that really sucks.

Those where the days you know. I do remember being a kid and seeing him jump. My dad did alot drag racing at the Orange County Race Way and those shows would usually bring him around as well. I remember one time seeing him at the Orange County Fairgrounds and got his autograph. I remeber wearing his shirts and of course you had to have the action figure. I think it was a toss up between the Six Million Dollar Man Or Evel Knievel He was just amazing to see back then.

He will be surely missed.

He was on The Dinah Shore Show once, and another guest was being rather offensive with his crudeness, and Evel, in affect, told him to shut up and mind his manners. The guest did just that. Evel was a gentleman, and I admired him from that moment.

We had Evel, today's kids have Johnny Knoxville ...

Rest in Peace, gentleman daredevil.

How Evel got his name...

My Dad was born and raised in Butte, MT--the same place as Robert Knievel. I remember the story of my youth...one of the towns policeman told his buddies "well it looks like the jail is full tonight. We have Awful Knofel and Evil Knievel." The name stuck from then on. He later changed the "i" to an "e" because he thought it looked better.
