Business: Bloomnet-Currently Flower Patch Inc-Past

Location: Work as Home Agent

Type of Business: Service Provider

About Me: Hello all, Here is a little about myself. I worked in a local flower shop in Salt Lake City for 6 years. I still missing working in the store and enjoy the time that I get to assist at the holidays. When I started working in the floral industry it was by chance, temp at a Mothers Day and worked my way up in the ranks until I managed 2 of our largest locations. I fell like I know the business from the ground up.

I now am currently working for BloomNet. It is refreshing to bring my experience of being the florist to our customers and being able to assist them in their/our needs. I love the interaction with other florists like myself. I have always said that once you are in the industry there is no way out :)

I have many friends across the states in the industry and love talking with them about what is going on in their stores and knowing as a florist that we are not alone in this difficult time.

I hope to get a chance to know all of you!

Hi. When you worked at the shop in Salt LAke City, were you a designer? I am not totally familiar with Bloomnet (not a member), are you a phone order person (sorry, I don't know what the nicer word is...Valentine brain freeze)? How did you find us?

Thanks in advance for answering the additional questions.

Bloomnet is a Wire Service. We help in transmitting orders, offer florist website and give the ability to florist to purchase products among some of the services we offer. :) I work as a Technical Business Consultant so I assist the florist with their websites and technical support needs.

Amy, I did everything when I worked at the flower shop in Salt Lake, I started as customer service at Mothers Day, was asked to stay and then became a designer. I then was a assistant manager until I worked my way up and became a Manager of two locations. I still designed as a manager. I think that is what I emjoy most, was creating emotions with flowers. :) I still like to design in my spare time and will often visit the shop I used to work at during holiday to assist with the design team.

Thanks for the explanation. I do hope you have thick skin Amira. Wire Services are like a skunk at a garden party for many in our community.

My question now is, what do you hope to achieve by becoming a member and conversely what do you hope to offer as a member?

Thanks for taking the time.

Hey Amy... it's the piano lessons as a kid. Fingers fly across keys. ;)

And thanks!

Bloomnet/Bloomlink is the wire service division of 1-800-flowers.com.

How did you progress from working with a retail establishment to working with Bloomnet/Bloomlink?

I am assuming that the shop you were/are with/freelance at is still in business?

Finally......How much representation does Bloomnet/Bloomlink give to 1-800-flowers as a separate entity or do you have to represent 800 flower interests over Bloomnet/Bloomlink?

Trust me when I say I understand the "skunk in the garden" analogy. When I initially signed up to be a member I was still at the Flower Shop. I thought that it was about time that I put in my intro. I get the emails all the time with the new posts.

I am not here as a person who is employee of a wire service, I am here as a florist. That is where my roots are. I like to hear about the new trends and designs that florist come across, I also feel like I could give good feedback again, as a florist, on designs, how to deal with customers and even with employees. I have many stories that I have in my box of customer nightmares and also good ones as well.

I will always be a florist and if one day I am not working where I currently am the only thing I would do is be back in the shop. It has it's ups and downs but I will always be a florist at heart. :)

Great question, the company that I worked for is still in business and I assume is doing well. I still have a good relationship with them.

The reason for me looking for a different position was more person. I wanted to work from home for a while and was given that opportunity with Bloomnet, though I do miss going into the store some days, and then again not :)

As to your question with 800Flower and relationship with Bloomnet, I dont think I could properly answer that. I am more in technology and work directly with the florist on their websites and technical needs. Sorry.

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us. Like Victoria, I really hope you have a thick skin and/or don't take any of the wire service comments to heart. Hopefully you will jump on in and participate often! Welcome!

So, all that being said, welcome to the community. :)
