The old saying "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" is so true. But it is worth more than a pound, it can be priceless.

Four years ago my Doctor suggested that I have a Colonoscopy for screening purposes, due to my age. I of course put it off. I am after all the "Iron Man".

In January I went for a physical after my last visit 4 years ago and decided to "man up" and have the colonoscopy done. I really was prompted by the "Master Within" to have it done.

The Colonoscopy was last week. Knock me down with a feather, there was a Polyp. Knock me down again it was cancerous.

The great news is it is gone, removed, (incinerated by now), "cured" in the words of the Doctor, "a lucky man" as well. I do go back in six months to have another look (gladly).

Ontario has one of the highest rates of Colon Cancer in the world. Prevention is much, much easier than a cure. I urge each and everyone of you to speak to your Doctor and have a Colonoscopy done. You are too special and wonderful not to do it.

Take care, look after yourselves.

Doug, glad it worked out for the best, and that the universe sees that we need you here :)

Ontario has one of the highest rates of Colon Cancer in the world.
What is the reason, anyone?

hubby finally got his done, 4 pre-cancerous polyps...
Now it's my turn.
Glad you did Doug, we like having you around.

Doug,

Having lost my grandfather last year to undetected (until it was too late) colon cancer, I can't agree with you more.

Suck it up, everyone. Get checked.

Ryan

Like Rhonda's hubby, I had 3 pre-cancerous polyps removed about 3 years ago, at my first colonoscopy. I'm due for another. Thanks for the reminder!

Thanks to you all.

Yes Sher, I have been "hosed" but it was "a good thing".

My advice to everyone

"Don't be a dope, take the scope"

Cosmic Blessings to everyone.

My husband just had this done, diverticulitis pockets and several tiny and a few bigger polyps were removed, we are waiting the results of the polyps. Don't wait until you have a problem of fever and chills and pain that send you to the emergency room the thurs before Mother's day that keeps you out a week.

Doug... just Hugs.

Joan is Peter okay?

Ditto from here - all the best to Peter.

and thanks to Doug for the reminder - it's been 10 years since i did the asscam (sigmoidoscopy)

Time for the hole 10 yards (pun intended)

Peter is in my thoughts, Joan

Peter is doing well, he is back to work and eating fairly normally but we are still waiting for the results of the polyps. Thank you both for your concern, I will keep you posted.

Joan

Peter is in my thoughts as well Joan, as are you.

Confident in a positive outcome for all of you.

Oh Doug glad everything is is well with you.....

My Dad has had cancer found in his bowel twice - both times it was successfully removed during surgery - he has been very lucky - The first time we were told that it was a very large mass and he would more than likely not come out of it - very scarey indeed - The 2nd time was just as lucky - even the Doctors were surprised at how quickly it grew, so I guess we are waiting on the third time...... His Father and Grandmother both died from this cancer. My Dad is the type of person who wouldn't of gone to the Doctor unless my Mother had insisted - he already had a few signs of the cancer and because of Family history she knew he had to go - otherwise, well I am sure we would of lost him.

We also lost my Father in law in February as a result of not having the colonoscopy until it was too late.........

So please people - get the tests done..!
