I think Ryan should start a forum that is called,"Oh Lord, help us now".
Had to go to hospital last night after work. Hoping not to be there to long, just needed meds prescribe, and they ae pretty quick at this hospital but last night, it did not happen. Waited 2 1/2 hours. Stop for food on the way home and came home to a flood in the basement. I would say a good inch or more every square inch in that basement. I think it was a waterhose to the washer or something else in the washer gave away. woke up in the middle of the night with a major leg cramp and back at work with about a 5 hour sleep to work now straight till tomorrow night.

Also looks like someone died at the hospital while we where there, which means I may have another funeral to add to the mayhem.

One good thing that came out of all this, is we finally got our appointment for my wife cat scan that we have been waiting for 2 months now.
May 21 in the am.
Now back to work,
Luc

Hmmm... is that the result of socialized medicine, having to wait for a cat scan for almost 3 months?

I was in Toronto a few year back on vacation, when my youngest son developed a fever. We took him to a private doctor, who precribed medicine and gave him a shot. I don't remember what the bill was, but it was ridiculously inexpensinve.
I thought that was great at that time, but if it lowers the quality of health care then it might not be so good.

Doesn't lower the cost, just equalizes it. From what I've seen of US hospitals, there is still a wait in emergency.

My wife has a seizure disorder, and any time we've had to use emerg. they've been quite speedy. If you have a less-vital concern, you may wait a bit longer.

21 yrs ago, my cousin was born with his intestines, etc, outside his stomach. He was rushed to Sick Kids (the top hospital in the world for child medical care), and spent months in hospital having his skin stretched to cover the gap after his "innards" have been tucked back into place. The final bill for his care was well over $50,000. It was all covered by OHIP.

Had his parents been stuck with the bill, they would have been crippled for life. Recently married, in their early 20's, employed but never wealthy ... that bill would have hung over them forever. Thanks to Ontario's healthcare system, Josh is alive and well as a thriving graphic artist.

There is always a wait in the emegency room of any hospital if you don't require emergency care.
I was referring to Luc having to wait 3 months for a cat scan. I don't think the wait in the US is quite that long, although I don't really know since not aware of anyone I know ever having to have one.
The costs for services in US hospitals is ridiculous. No one could ever afford it if it wasn't for insurance, and lately the insurance has been more and more difficult to afford, with family plans running close to $85/week out of the employee's pocket in most company plans. And, that is with a $1000/$2500 deductible.

My Dad needed an MRI because his knee has been bothing him and got one the next day. I needed some stuff done last year and it was just a 2 week wait. But for some reason if you need something done to your teeth you gotta wait forever it seems (other than normal cleaning and such)

You also have to remember that Luc lives in a very small town that is the retirement capital of Ontario - it has long waits for certain things compared to many other towns in this province.
