Another long time "good" FTD rep layed off

Been trading phone calls with a regional FTD rep that called me....just got off the phone with him to find out that Texas regional rep, John Hurdt, has been layed off. I am sorry to hear that, IMO John was one of the good guys.

totally sucks - John and Mary Sue were among the nicest people one could ever hope to meet.

We like ours just fine but Twila recenly said if he ever left she'd like to have John as our RVP

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that, John should be the last person a company lets go. He is a true professional and a classy gentleman. I'm sorry for the stress this will cause his family. But he will land on his feet with his talent, no doubt sooner than later! But, what a bummer!!

When I received the Business Woman of the Year a couple of years ago, John came to see me get the award. I will never forget looking out in the audience and seeing him there. That was above the call of duty. I'm sure something good will be in the cards for someone so good.

Tom Wolfendale was FTD rep from this area, Southwest PA, and he is gone as well. He has been done with them since Jan.

I agree ~ bad move for FTD. John was a real asset. Maybe he will find a new home within the floral industry.

Known John for a long time always good to talk with. I also heard Kanganis is now the North East Rep ?

Through the grapevine. I heard Jim Weedon was moved from North East rep to Technology. I think it may only be temporary that Kanganis is taking his position. I like Jim and on several occasions he moved things along for me. Jim did have a few local reps under him move to 800 flowers.

Just a few weeks ago my wife and I shared a dinner table with John and his wife. Very nice people, sorry to see it happen. Just one more individual caught up in the times.

Jim and I spoke late last week and he told me the same thing. Jim is a great guy. I hope it all works out for him.

this one hurts.
john hurdt is/was one of the classiest guys to represent the company. we were there at the same time and i was always in awe of his street smarts and his professionalism.
i'm at a loss currently to understand their "wisdom".
maybe it was because he treated his reps with courtesy and respect....

Has he been replaced by a younger less expensive representative? Salaries and fringes are generally more expensive for employees with longivity......Just a thought.
