Received a survey from TF of 13 different new designs of home page templates. Had to rate each one on scales and answer a few questions for each pic. One of the questions ask of each pic was if I like the placement of the logo. I said no to each one and added comment that the Top corner was O.K. but the area designated for my logo was to small. My "prize" for taken the survey is that when they pick the new design I will get the fresh new template for my homepage. GREAT!, as long as the ones I rated unfavorable do not get picked, which seems to always be the case when I do the floral container surveys.

I took this survey today.

I didn't see anything offensive in the survey. Seems like TF was just trying to get some feedback.

I would think you get to choose a new template of your choice. You don't have to get a new template. You can keep youir current template.

I really didn't see any templates that I like better than the one I have now.

New TF Templates

I took the test and had a jolly good time offering names for some of those templates since it wouldn't let me move to the next page without them. A few were handsome but I just couldn't resist provided titles like Good Things (for the first Martha Knock-Off), Martha Knock-Off II, AARP Special, This is Your Grandma's Flower Shop, CheapFlowerShop.com and the like. Will probably be my last survey...

IMO, no matter the template, the key to making those sites work is to add lots of original content - especially text - and to work hard at getting inbound links.

TF is building some very spiffy, search engine friendly custom sites that will eat the lunch of these basic templates, all things being equal. Take a look at http://www.palaceflorists.com/ with custom pages about local community services like http://www.palaceflorists.com/info.asp?id=2415 where the inbound link from the home page is "Maryland Flower Delivery." AFAIK you can't get this type of pages on a basic template. Not sure how TF determines which shops are offered these but I'm seeing more and more or them.

Bottom line, the template shell may matter to us but the content and links matter most to the seach engines. Which element do YOU think generates more orders?
