Quack

I signed up then quit paying them when they denied the first claim.

Are they the ripoff they seem to be?

I feel like I burned about 5 hundred dollar bills, or actually that burning them may have been more fun.

We've got it and speaking from personal experiance, they have always treated us great. They wrote my mom a decent size check to help offset travel expenses when my father and brother were in a car accident while on vacation out of state. It helped cover all the little things the health insurance didn't like the hotel and airfare. I believe they even helped with my father's funeral costs.

We have AFLAC and I love it. Not long after we got it my son was bitten by a stray dog and had to go through rabies shots. Each shot had to be given in the emergency room. I didn't even think about claiming AFLAC during the whole process which was about 2 months long. When I did I called my rep, I had no proof, HE got all the proof I needed for me from the hospital.

I ended up getting close to $400.

I have since sent in other claims and have never been denied.

Are you sure what you are claiming is covered?

So, what we're trying to learn here is whether they are a bunch of quacks or not, right?

My father in law has it, and has a heart operation, a shoulder surgery and received his claims on what was allowable. Most recently he has had bladder cancer(treatable) and they have NO other insurance. The money they received from aflac was the only thing they had to help them. Considering looking into it myself.

Well here's the situation - when I signed up I told the agent there could be another surgery in my future. I had discussed with the Doctor that I wanted my hardware removed from my knee, but not scheduled it or even firmed it up (she was against it - I had to insist, and man am I glad I did - no more pain!)

They called it some kind of pre-existing condition and denied it.

I knew it would be gray, but it soured me on them.

Maybe I was wrong and should have stayed with them, since I haven't really heard bad things about them.

We offer AFLAC to our employees they seem to love it and we get a caf plan out of it. I have an employee who has cancer and she says they have treated her very well. I know the others use it for yearly benefits (like prostrate check) and say the check ($) they get for the once yearly exam all but covers the cost they pay to have AFLAC in 1 year. So they feel like it is an almost free benefit.

Perhaps you didn't submit the claim correctly or have a non-covered issue?

Could be 'migo, could be.....

ahh but here's the thing that cheesed me off - the guy who sold it to me told me as long as it wasn't scheduled yet they would pay - then they didn't.

Probably not the companies fault as much as the salesman - but in my eyes they are ultimately respnsible for what their salespeople tell customers.

I agree with you. False advertising.
Did you argue your point with someone higher up than the sales rep that told this to you? I don't know if you will get anything but it is worth the try, the least you will do is inform someone that this person is telling false info to people. That's just not right.

It would be the same as me telling someone at an interview that they would get a months vacation and then after they are hired tell them that they only get that month after 5 years employment. Just wrong.
