Yes I have won scholarships before. 2 infact....But only got to use one of them.-Long story Believe it or not I took the beginning class with Susan Ayala. Super good class- but she told me I didn't need her class! HA!
Between scholarship win I actually paid for Hitomis class. Totally awesome. Both classes were awesome and I'd pay to take another class! The Mariott you stay in is a nice hotel. There is a bar down stairs and some body always drinks too much and makes an ass out of themselves and really don't get out of the class they should. Don't be late for the bus! Oh and if they ask "Who wants to be the bus monitor?" Totally do it! you get an prize at the end of it all.....(maybe I shouldn't have told you that!)
If you do have any food allergies, lactose intolerant, vegan...whatever if you call and talk to Joanna before hand she'll be sure to accommodate you from the start. Once you get there you can still let her know.
On Tuesday night they usually take a bus trip down to Brick town (I used to live in Oklahoma City BTW) and down town. It cost $10- or at least it did. you can go eat where ever you want- but I reccommend Tody Keiths....Get the creamed corn- it's so good!
You'll also get to see the OKC bombing memorial...Very somber place...There is always some jerk who talks loudly and wants to go splash around in the reflecting pool.
It's hotter than hell in OKC at that time- but lucky for you everywhere has great A/C...Take light breathable clothes.
Do take your tools. AND BE SURE TO CHECK THEM! DO NOT CARRY THEM ON! It's funny. At The "beginning design" class most of the students brought like one knife, a scissors, maybe a stripper....At Hitomis Class it was like a game of "Whose Tool Box Is Bigger". Still cracks me up to this day. Next time I go I'm taking my smallest tool kit with basic tools....Just like you'd use if you were testing for AIFD.
It's a super fun time and it always cracks me up to see Marie be a little grumpy and grumble and then turn on a dime and turn on the charm and happy face and a fun personality! I totally love her.
I will say this....I learned more in such a short time by taking those classes than I did in 25+ years on the table. Seriously. Taking the classes really refined my style. I need to take another class...
But I'm thinking of takiing a class at the Southern California School Of Floral Design.
I would go to TF again though and know I will get good education! The TF Education Center is the best thing about TF- seriously.
