I received an email and the subject is: "Sandy sent you photos on Tagged". There is a link to Tagged where you have to register to see the photos.

I do know the person who supposedly sent the photos--he was the house manager for a client where we did a VERY nice party about 3 years ago. They moved away; I haven't heard from them since then.

The Terms of Service for Tagged has a paragraph that concerns me--something about consenting to recieve commercial emails from them.
I don't want an inbox full of junk (made that mistake once!).

Am I being paranoid? Anyone know about Tagged?

Thanks for any input!

Wait for Toto to tell you about his experience with Tagged before you make a decision.

We got the exact same email - also from a "Sandy". I only know one Sandy. And she is not much into computers, so I am sure that it wasn't actually from her. So I wrote it off as Spam and didn't open it.

Delete it now! I opened it because I got the email from someone I know. Tagged got to my mail list and sent all my contacts a message! I had to do damage control and send them all an email telling them NOT to open the first one. What a f-ing hassle, I was so mad, you don't know!

How did you know it sent messages? I didn't open it, but I have a preview pane that had the button on it. I did go to the site to see what it was, but didn't enter any of my info.
Hope I didn't cause a hassle.

BTW . . .It did come from a first and last name of someone I know.
It's now deleted! Hopefully not too late.
Thanks all for your info.

TAGGED is a SCAMMER SPAMMER! DELETE THEM!

YUP! Old TOTO got suckered in when he got a PHONY email supposedly from his brother-in-law stating that, he had pictures for me to view. Tagged is a SCAMMER SPAMMER!

STUPID ME! I could've sent him an email to verify that, or simply call him, but it was late at night and I was curious.

So, I go and register there, and they ask me for my AOL account password.

Since the email came through my AOL email account, I thought it was just another AOL group feature. Turns out, they were not.

I did not realize their objective was to STEAL my list of personal email addresses from my Address Book. Luckily I keep my business email on another screen name and so, that wasn't compromised.

Then and when I started to receive emails from my friends asking if I had uploaded pictures for them to view, did I understand had I got snookered.

At that point, I sent an email to TAGGED demanding they cancel my account and cease and desist from using my email list.

You can't teach and old dog new tricks, but you can trick him! DUH!

To: [email protected]

Subject: Termination of Service and Registration Data with your TAGGED website.

To whom it may concern:

Please Terminate my service with TAGGED and delete all of my registration data.

I mistakenly registered at your site based on a FALSE email sent to me by your company suggesting that, a family member had uploaded photos at your site for me to view. That was simply not true and I find this type of marketing by your company to be false and misleading.

In addition, I had to send email out to all of the recipients of your newest email marketing fraud which also attempted to suggest to them that, I uploaded photos to your site to view, which was an absolute lie.

I'm going to suggest that, TAGGED cease and desist from using FALSE statements in the future as well as capturing email lists from new members, and without their complete knowledge of your purpose.

Please confirm my Termination request and the subsequent deletion of all of my personal data currently listed at your website.

Sincerely,

Toto, I did the exact same thing as you! I have almost the identical story as you.

I don't think we were dumb or naive --when you get something with a legitimate name of someone near and dear to you, how could you think it's a scam. Makes me sad to think I have to question EVERYTHING now, what a world!

I knew this was the place to ask!

I was fortunate enough NOT to go ahead and "assume" that MY sender was a legit email address from MY OWN email stable...
NOW I'm curious, how such a thing could possible be triggered??...

The only persona that's ever "Tagged" me was TOTO....

Sorry John, but you did not make it past the guards at the door...

I got one of those on Saturday...it smelled funny when it wanted me to create a login to see pictures a friend sent me...thank God I didn't open it...I don't need those problems.
Glad my radar works!:boggles:

I thought twice about opening it, but saw that it was from TOTO, so I thought OK. Saw that it was taking an unusally long time on "opening", so I canceled it real quick....I believe I killed it before it starting to spam my email list.

Yup, I got a similar e-mail from someone I know saying they had sent me photos. I registered, skipped through all the "special offers" that kept asking for my cell number. When I finally got finished there were NO photos from the person who sent me the e-mail. Then I got a few more "tagged" e-mails, some from people I knew, some I DID NOT know, and I knew something underhanded was going on.

I called the person who sent it originally and they told me that their e-mail list had been hijacked and lots of e-mails were being sent without their consent.

I used the un-subscribe link on one of the e-mails they sent and that seems to stopped me receiving e-mails, but I have no idea if or how many people they sent false e-mails to claiming to be from me. I', going to follow up with Toto's "cease and desist" method just to make sure.
