Just wondering if there are any directories out there for non wire service shops. One would be great if we had it in hand when we are trying to find a shop so we wouldn't have to ask in front of our customers if they do the customery 20% discount.
Leave the OG out of it!:flowerfac

You really shouldn't be asking for a discount in front of your customers. I know you are probably kidding, though. The best way to send, in my opinion, is to charge the customer for the service and send the rest to the filling florist.

There are other options, though, like IFA (http://www.myifa.org/index ) or flowershopnetwork.com that do an 80/20 split.

Those are two that come to mind, but there are others. Some like Gold:bootyshakMedallion are not so reputable.

not in front of customer

I never mention it in front of a customer but my phone is right where they are. Even if I use FSN I still have to ask. Do they have a service other than being listed on their site? I have my website & other info on there site.

Yes, it is called signing up for the largest WS, receive their directory and then dump the membership.

I don't favor this practice, but it is done.

You can send through FSN. Call your rep and they will explain how to do it. You can do it on the web ($3.99) or over the phone ($6.99). They choose the florist or you do (within the network). You put a credit/debit card on file with them and they charge it when you send. If you send a $100 order, they bill your card $80. You can charge the customer for the service. For example, you can charge your customer a $7 service charge and phone the order to FSN. The $7 covers the cost to phone the order. They bill your card 80% and leave 20% in your bank.

Since you already use FSN, I would recommend at least trying it. Tell them you want your first 6 orders free.

I'm confused.
If they're Teleflora (or FTD or 800) and you're not... They won't necessarily give you the 20% discount.
So the directory won't help much in knowing WHO will be willing to split with you. You would still have to ask.

Trend??

I have since stopped mentioning any type of discount when calling out orders... if you give me one, thank you...but remember I will take 100% on my end...

customery????????????

My thoughts, if your after the 20% then stay with the WS, and go after the rebate money also.

We charge our customer a send fee and send 100%, simply because the customer is the one wanting to send flowers, not me, and surely not the receiving florist.

The WS directory first, than locateaflowershop.com, cross reference for florist not in WS directory.

Customery????????????????

Why don't we just compile our own list from the members here on FlowerChat? At least that way we would have an idea of who we were giving the business to. I know I for one would like to be on the list.

I'm looking for it and can't ever remember how to find it. I'll try googling it. Yup I found it.

Aaaarrrrrggghh - I'm almost having a stroke thinking that no one knows how to find this. I still don't understand why a Flowerchat member would decline the free listing, if for no other reason than for other members to have a place to look up members to send their OOA customers. I have used the site for that several times, as well as for finding a shop to wire to.

First, go to the main flowerchat page - see the box on the left that says "site navigation"? Then the list of places you can go - "Florist & Vendor Directory" is the fourth down.
~OR~
Go to the Forums Page and the directory is the first forum under "Special Features". You can also access the forums page from the same "site navigation" box on the left - it's the 6th line.

Click it and it brings you HERE
Find your country, your state, then click "Submit a Link" - an option in the bar that is at the top of your page. Then add your listing. Please - add your listing!
:)
This floral service announcement will repeat monthly, as required by floral industry law.
We now return you to your regular scheduled program.

Ok, Tracy... Got to the main page... Then what?

Just kidding...

You forgot one thing - you can also bookmark it:thumbsup

I think they could do a much better job of hiding it from us.

I mean, google found it when I couldn't.

I found the directory on flower chat there's not a single shop from my state listed. It is hard to find if you don't have directions first.
I've been using FSN & received 5 direct calls from customers on that site today for funeral work 1 from Canada.
I'm not using them to call out on or receive.

End of wire services and order gatherers

:yourock: ]Good question, very good question.
We are just starting to do the 80/20 and as we go we make a list of the people in our business, florists that want to go for it.
We also tell them that any business going in their town will be send to them.
First to answer first to be on our list and to get our business.
It is time to work for ourselves and to have the guts to severe this very expensive relationship with wire services.
It will take time. We are willing to exchange our list with yours anytime and periodically, thru Email.

You'r on...................Bravo!![/quote]

Since you're severing your very expensive relationship with the wire service and you'll be saving hundreds per month - why do you expect a 20% discount from other florists? Doubtfully those florists don't discount for their own customers 20% so why should they for you and your customers?

I don't think you'll find that many astute florists discount out of the blue like that.

Quality and value for your customers is what you should be seeking IMO. Take your wire service savings to the bank.
