Started to green in today,can't believe how much you can get done when the phone isn't ringing.
Anyone else having problems on when your flowers will come in this week? I can't nail down any whole sale house as to when flowers will be in this week.
 
Got the bulk of the flowers in today, yes very nice to not be disturbed.

Only problem with product is my Dutch stuff. It was supposed to be coming tomorrow but now is pushed off until at least Wednesday.
 
Mine dutch stuff is suppose to be in Wed. but since the snow storm last week no is saying anything for a delivery date. Makes life a little stressful to say the least.
 
Hells yeah I'm ready!! I LOVE valentine's day! My flowers all start coming in next week. I didn't order near what I did the year before. I'm taking my chances. I will probably only sell 200 to 250 arrangements- Dozen roses included. Average sale will be around $70. I can handle that myself really. I do have Mayra (I used to run her shop some years back) coming in to help me. I doubt Bettina shows up at all. My only concern is Delivery on Monday. I think I have enough help though. I hope.
 
I worry about Monday and if I will ahve enough help to deliever. We all know we are dealing with men who will wait till the last minute and then want it delivered NOW.
Anyone putting out things on facebook to get people moving?

Are we ever really ready for this? Every year brings something new to deal with. Sounds like our weather maybe good this year as of now temps in the low 40's can't wait to see if the weatherman is right.
I think the couseling needs to be after the fact not before if we did it before we will never work again LOL.
 
The wholesalers are at the mercy of the farms who are at the mercy of the weather....which has not been too cooperative this Valentine's! Makes it really hard to write a decent schedule. Looks like we'll be getting our 'hard' flowers today and most of the softer stuff including roses on Thursday.
I'm curious to know-for those of you who held off on pre-booking roses-are you able to find what you need? I've been hearing that they're pretty scarce out there if you didn't pre-book. Or is that just a bunch of hooey?
 
I'll let you know after i see a truck today if they have roses on that are not pre sold.
I will get some stuff wed/some thursday.
I will do about 3 arrangements for the cooler but really expect to not sell arrangements V day.
it will be all cut bunches.

and since dh who was to work in the store just booked a 6 day job out of town with V day falling in the middle I better not have funeral work too!

Did you not just jump for joy when you heard that?? :D Here in NE Iowa it's supposed to be 30's - which is fine by me!!

I thought I was totally ready until the flowers come in- some tomorrow and some Weds but then I discovered one thing I forgot to do. I had an order from my Roses and Romance section and I realized I had not changed the prices for the roses in that section. I have a section for Valentines but, of course, the customer didn't order from that page. Anyway although I'll probably only break even on that order at least I realized I forgot to change the prices so I immediately did that and took some of the designs temporarily off my Rose and Romance page. Now I think I am ready?
So far this year I have been getting some really weird requests. I have a guy coming in tomorrow with a 20" Betty Boop Fez Candy container that he wants me to use.I went online to check out the Betty Boop character and I will be securing Betty Boop in oasis and making a dress out of flowers.Should be fun.

Hey- you all wish I was working at your shop this week! I'd be so smoooooth!
I love the rush of the week I think. But theres something about Valentine's Day that is my favorite. I think it's cause it's all about lovey dovey stuff.

Hey and instead of counsiling- Lets all pitch in and get Shannon a vacation instead! HA!!!
