Follow the instructions.
(NO PEEKING AHEAD!)

Free will or synaptic wiring? You be the judge.
Do the following exercise, guaranteed to raise an eyebrow.
There's no trick or surprise.

Just follow these instructions, and answer the questions one at a time and as quickly as you can! Again, as quickly as you can but don't advance until you've done each of them .... really. Now, scroll down (but not too fast, you might miss something).

THINK of a number from 1 to 10

MULTIPLY that number by 9

If the number is a 2-digit number, ADD the digits together

Now SUBTRACT 5

DETERMINE which letter in the alphabet corresponds to the number you ended up with (example: 1=a, 2=b, 3=c,etc.)

THINK of a country that starts with that letter

REMEMBER the last letter of the name of that country

THINK of the name of an animal that starts with that letter

REMEMBER the last letter in the name of that animal

THINK of the name of a fruit that starts with that letter

Are you thinking of a Kangaroo in Denmark eating an Orange?

I told you this was FREAKY!! At least for me it was. If not for you, you're among the 2% of the population whose minds are different enough to think of something else. 98% of people will answer with kangaroos in Denmark eating oranges when given this exercise. Freaky, huh? Keep this message going. This one is actually fun sending on to others. Especially if you are among the 2%. Forward it to people you know and see if they can determine if they are "usual" or "unusual".

WTF!!!! OMG...I'm freaked out!! How...what...uhhh...

Sorry, but no matter what number you came up with first (1-10), it produces 9 here. :)

Now SUBTRACT 5
DETERMINE which letter in the alphabet corresponds to the number you ended up with (example: 1=a, 2=b, 3=c,etc.)

So it's always "D" here.

Are you thinking of a Kangaroo in Denmark eating an Orange?

I got Chinchilla in Dominican Republic eating Apples.

I thought of a koala in denmark eating an apple. but i saw a koala on tv just now so don't know that i'm so different, i am just susceptible to my surroundings

An iguana in Djibouti eating apricots.

(But only 'cuz I've seen this before, when I got a Danish kangaroo eating oranges.)

Here's how I used to do it

Follow the same pattern of questions

Make the answer to come out to whatever you want, say 8

Then write the # 8 on the match head from a matchbook with a lead pencil

Tell the person to focus intently on the match while it burns

Then when the match is burned, the lead from the pencil will not burn off, tell them the # is 8 and show them the match.

You will get a wow, but don't try it twice, someone will want to see the matchbook.

my first fruit was Olive, but I didn't think that's a fruit.

Your chinchilla is next to my Cat, in the Dominican Republic, eating a Tomato. I know tomato isn't considered a fruit, but it really is.
