A mother called and wants this
http://www.jacobsensflowers.com/cgi-bin/jacobsensitem-dba.cgi/PHF 62-11
for her daughters prom on Sat of Mother's Day weekend. First of all, I haven't made one before and it's a bad time for practicing. 2nd What would you charge? Third, How are the flowers attached to the wire? Glue seems messy for this and wiretape would show.
Maybe I should just price it so high she goes away. I think I need a drink.:wallhead:

This is relatively easy to create. It uses glue. You will need some specialty pliers to shape the wire. To make the swirls, you will need to use round nose jewelry pliers. These are pliers that are cone shape. You will use a extra long length of wire.......using the pliers to create the swirls at intervals ....... then you glue the orchids to the swirls.

Helen,

Besides the curls of wire that you see, do a small curl for each mokara bloom to sit on. You can glue a leaf of ruscus on the underside of the curl, then glue the blossom on top of the curl, that will hide the glue. It's what I do for my open wire bracelets. Make sure you position them so that they will not get crushed between the underside of the arm and the body.

Does she specifically want the orange mokaras? If so, I would charge $20 for the bracelet PLUS an entire 5 stem bunch of mokaras unless you feel you can sell the others. I would say $55 -$75. That way you will be very happy to make it!

I think she wants white dendrobs, but we will speak on Monday. This is a private school prom where normally the kids who have lived on their own for 3 or 4 years do not need Mommy to order for them. I did ask her to please make sure the boyfriend hadn't already ordered. Also, I have never been able to get these kids to buy anything different so I just hope this girl has the confidence to be a trend setter. Once it's paid for I will work on the bracelet early in the week. Lori is faxing me some instructions she has and I'm sure it will be easy now that I've had time to think about it.

We have done quite a few of these with the orchids and sell them for $35 to $40 each starting with about 4 of the dendro blooms. I use a couple of faux leaves, one glued on the back and one on the front, then glue orchids, small ribbon bow and foliage to that. They are pretty easy, I use someone at the shop that is about her size for measurement purpose although I tell the customers that they are adjustable once you are ready to put it on and you can wind the wire loop at the end up in case the flower doesn't sit at the front or it's too big.

We've been making these for a few years now. I always stress out, but they work out fine--like Linda said, charge $50 and you'll feel better! Mine's not an arm, but it's the same idea. Also, they are adjustable. BTW, I used some Christmas garland as bling in this one!

I have made it also... and where the loops are in the wire, I make flowers out of bullion and attach making sure they are secure with wire and don't move to glue the flowers.... It is relatively easy to make, but a bit time consuming.

The Mother sent me more pictures and one looks just like yours, Sue. Maybe it is from your web site. Funny if it is yours. I'll check and let you know.
