Hello all,

My name is Mike. My wife and I own a florist in New York for about 3 years now. I currently have 3 years under my belt (which isn't much) in the floral industry and my wife has about 10 years.

Never real had an interest in flowers until my wife showed me that there is challenges in floral designing. ( I thought it was the easiest thing to do in lfe....PAH little did I know)

I'm excited to join this community of florists and hope to network with all your hard working florists. Hopefully with our knowledge we can improve our industry to convince people that florists are where to go for fresh, beautiful, and astonishing floral arrangements.

Welcome and Greetings from Michigan's Upper Peninsula. We chuckle here when people tell us "arranging flowers isn't rocket science".... reminds me of the woman who told me that and then asked why we used "elecctrical tape" on her daughter's wedding bouts... I calmly told her it was a "special floral tape and not electrical tape"... not rocket science... but rather floral science at its' best!
 
Hah! I remember a time about 9 years ago when my husband was lamenting his job "in the real world" vs my easy peasey job in the "tiptoeingthroughthetuplips" world of florists. I think today he has a little different view as a business owner.

Welcome fellow Aussie

I have three Australian Sheep Dogs, we call them "Aussies" you get my vote. If flowers would move around and need to be herded my dogs would make great florists.

You get my vote.

This is a great community, and theres so much useful information, at least I'm finding that, some great answers to great questions.....and nice people as well.
I am a Canadian florist in OZ, kind of the opposite of you..lol.

Flame - My wife is from Melbourne Australia. She used to run her brothers florist that he owned for numerous years until he sold it.

Hi-I just did a wedding for an Aussie in Orange Co.(Southern California) He was from Brisbane-now he's from SoCal! Ha Ha he married my daughter. Love him and our new family. We just had loads of fun! Cant wait to see them again- "down under"! Whats your wife's favorite Tim Tam? Any way, Welcome
