Anyone use them? I've been to their website - looked it over.
My bank quoted me over $500 to "set it up" - which is a farce....
If you are using them, is the transition easy from your old processor?

We also use them through Floristware. We didn't do much shopping around but We were told that they have the best rates for credit card processing. I've allowed a couple of sales reps from other CC processing companies give us competitive quotes and they all said that they can't beat Authorize.net.

And, We have never had any problems while using them.

I absolutely LOVE authorize.net!!!

We also use it through Floristware, and we also have them automaticaly process our Strider web orders.

Should not be $500 to set up, thats BS, your bank is wrong!

Anyone who is looking at using Authorize.net as their gateway (the piece that allows US merchants to process credit card transactions over the internet by acting as a bridge between their shop and their merchant services provider) should note the following.

Authorize.net does not deal directly with merchants. They only go through merchant services providers who act as resellers. It will be your merchant services provider that creates your Authorize.net account for you. You will be billed for Authorize.net services through your merchant services provider - you won't get a separate monthly bills from Authorize.net.

Most of the fees that Authorize.net lists are highly discretionary "Suggested List Prices" that they publish in order to help their resellers make money. For example it is my understanding that Authorize.net actually charges the merchant services provider about $100 for the set-up but they show the price as $500 on their website. This allows the merchant services provider to charge the list price and make an excellent profit. Most merchant services providers will discount this heavily - usually down to about their cost of $100. If your merchant services provider is insisting that you cover the cost of $500 you should be cautious - they are trying to gouge you. Some merchant services providers will even eat their cost for the set-up so it doesn't cost you anything. This seems great but it's also a hint to check your rates and make sure that it's not just because they are already making so much off your clearing!

The monthly and per transaction fees are to some extent discretionary as well. Your merchant services provider may charge you less than the prices Authorize.net lists on their website.

We use Authorize.net. As we were searching for a gateway, we found that most of these companies are competitively priced and and offer the same features. Our determining factor was that we felt the setup with them was easier than some of the others we looked at.

One question to be sure and ask is if they are PCI (Payment Card Industry) Compliant. This ensures that the credit card data entered during the payment transaction is properly secured. I know that Authorize.net is.
