Hi! I have a friend who is getting married in Vegas and would like for me to make her wedding bouquet.
I'm not sure what is available in August since I haven't been in the biz that long.
A little background....this is her 3rd wedding and his 2nd...it's just going to be the two of them there. Her bouquet will be the only flowers present. So I'd like to make something stunning for her. I just don't know what's available in august. If someone could clue me in, I'd appreicate it! Thanks for your help in advance!

A shorter list might be what isn't available, or what's limited.
Tulips, Lily of the Valley, Daffodils & other early spring flowers. In that heat, you might want to steer clear of Gardenia or other delicate flowers ...

There is a pretty good site for flowers - www.sierraflowerfinder.com - I use it sometimes for color reference for specific flowers, and it might give you some inspiration.

What kind of style are you trying to give her? Are you bringing the bouquet from CA, or making it in NV? All those things should be considered before deciding about varieties of flowers ....

:)

I was thinking of transporting it...since I live near the freeway that goes directly up to LV.

eta: Oh for style I know I don't want to do cascade...I was thinking something that would convey romance & wow factor and would be able to dry nicely on it's own since they will be in LV for a week and that she can take back to Iowa.

This is the 2nd request I've received from friends/family to do their wedding flowers. I did my sister's last october. So I'd like to fulfill her wishes.

Shades of pinks and greens show up well, and say girly, romantic - hotpink, pale pink/cream and chartreuse green accents. Flowers that dry well ...Spray Roses, roses, Hypericum, Buttons, Larkspur, Hanging green amaranthus. I can't think of any else at the moment (sugar headache from all the b-day cake :> [yes Heather, CAKE, not tequila, yet :) ]).

If the drying issue was less important, tropicals would be WOW. Dendros, anthirium, protea.... still in those pinks & greens. That says romance to me, while still being grown up.

:)

I just realized I forgot to ask her what she plans on wearing....ivory, white or something else?? EEK! Thanks Tracy for getting my brain started!! Oh and Happy Birthday again!! It could have been cake spiked with tequila...hmmm....

Does she have a favorite color or flower? What type of person is she: country, metro, beachy? What you want to do is put her personality in a three dimensional art form. The bouquet should be about her.

Here's another useful site that shows flower availability by month.
It's not perfect, but it's a pretty good guide. Of course, you can also check with your local wholesaler ;-)

WOW!! THANK YOU so much!! what a great site! Bookmarked!

Great sites, just looked at August and saw crocosmia... love those!! But not sure how they hold up.

well I spoke with my bride and she says she doens't have a favorite flower...she loves pink & black (I already knew that!) and that .....brace yourself.....she is wearing black for her wedding gown. So I was thinking of doing a bouquet of white roses, pink callas, ivory roses(maybe), some dark colored dried berries....still thinking on this. the design is no way in concrete yet...she doesn't want a huge bouquet something samll to medium size. Thoughts??
