I am in search of baby containers -- looking for something keepsake-ish, but not the normal ceramic baby boots type of thing. Any suggestions? What are you using?? I have putting this off for awhile, hoping that customers would be satisfied with a nice glass vase arrangement or frosted vase, but time and time again they still ask what type of baby containers we have. Thanks for your help!

I HATE the usual ceramic baby containers and am always looking for something different. There just doesnt seem to be anything ? Years ago i had lovely old fashioned prams made out of willow...really tasteful...just cant get them now. At the moment i have white baskets with a gingham fabric liner in pink or blue. A soft toy fits in one side and an arrangement in the other looks ok, but want something classy for babies ?????? great thread !!

I buy cute bibs and tie them onto a vase with a pacifier. Then you can use almost any vase and flowers. I also have made cute arrangements with actual baby items such as bottles, small diaper bags, etc....these things are a hit because it is something the parents can keep. Place three bottles securely in a small diaper bag and fill each bottle with a small bouquet....you get the idea.

By a long shot, Napco has the best baby containers IMO....mainly because they have there own in house designers (as I have been told). I got to view their new 2009 baby containers at Dallas Market.....they got our order.

Some fun stuff on their site - somehow, I always forget about Napco. Thanks for the reminder!

:)

Can you post the Napco site link? I have never heard of them before.

I usually order from their catalogs or at Dallas Market, but I believe this is their website http://www.napcomarketing.com/index.php/about-us . You might have to call them for full access ...not sure.

"So far" the purchase of Napco by 800Flowers have not screwed up their product line....but time will tell.

For Classy Baby Containers - This is something that I do for friends that have had children. I take a 6 inch glass cube vase.....use pink or blue organza ribbon to wrap it like a present.....attach a nice size bow to the top and arrange a nice assortment of flowers into the glass vase nestling the blooms in between the loops of ribbon. I don't currently have a picture ( digital camera on the fritz - got to break down and buy a new one more than likely )

I'm no longer full service, just weddings and events, but I wanted to pass this along to you. This was one of my most popular baby boy items, a truck full of flowers! Sorry, not a great picture, but you can kind of get the idea. A really cute one was a farm tractor with plastic animals arranged amongst the flowers.
Enjoy!

A really cute arrangement we make uses a small size disposable diaper with a bubble bowl (or any suitably sized container) in it. Tape the adhesive tabs on the sides, then tie on pink or blue gingham bows to each side. We've used these for baby showers too. Very inexpensive, and the folks love them... You can also personalize them with the baby's name wriiten on the front in Sharpie....

Currently I buy my baby containers from John Henry. They have some wooden cribs that are pink and blue. They also have some nice baskets with pink or blue footprints on them. We do carry the dreaded ceramic baby containers, our customers ask for them, gotta have what they want.

If you are a TF member and have any of the peter rabbit container, the one with the rabbit on the side of a watering can, those work well for baby containers. We have them in our baby section and sell a few of them.

Thanks for the link to Napco, I have also never heard of them, I will look into them.

If you are Teleflora.....another container that works well for new baby is the big ceramic yellow duck - MINUS the hat.

Of course I am a little partial... but here are Pioneer Wholesale we have some "non-bootie" baby containers. We try to keep a few in stock, although we also like the more neutral glass vases and frosted glass vases. We have a round assortment with a "rubber ducky" design at the top. Then there are Sesame Street containers. And we have some "Baby Handprint" baskets. Also the chalkboard vases are "cute" enough for baby. And we have some adorable teddy bear picks that add a baby flair to a non-baby container. We have a "Baby" section on our website, www.pioneerwholesaleco.com.

We have found a set of 3 small wooden boxes with hinged lids and a rocking horse painted on the top. We call them a memory box and parents can put "keepsake items"
such as birth notice, hospital bracelets, etc. in this after the flowers are tossed out.
We buy them from Waterdale in Mississauga, Ont. They need to be lined with cello as they don't come with hard liners.

I still love those little baby containers--most of the time. Here's one I did for a novelty class. Don't judge it too harshly. I would do some things differently, but I thought it was cute in a retro kind of way.

Then I took the same container to a florist to fill for my son and DIL when they had our granddaughter. They live out of state and I didn't want to subject flowers to a long car ride. That florist filled it with little short alstro and spray roses--it was pitiful looking.

Thanks for this thread and posts. Great ideas!

BTW, this is my first attempt at attaching a photo. Not sure I'm doing this right at all!
