Well that had to have been the best convention that I have attended. While I always favor The Bellagio, The Venetian was well worth the $159.99 per night. When I let the front desk know that our tub/shower was backing up they put a $100 food comp on my bill for one of the restaurants and room service. That is one big hotel.
The convention went smoothly and Mike Soenen did a great job the night be presented his remarks. I think they were supposed to be one hour but some FTD commercials weren't run so it was only 40 mins. Considering it was his first time standing in front of 3000+ people he did well in communicating the company's objectives. The remark that stands out is when he said that FTD had not done some things right but that was going to change. When we were leaving the we heard applause in the hallway. I thought it was FTD florists applauding Mike but it was the FTD staff applauding us...the florists. That was classy. They lined the hallway and was shaking hands and high-fiving the florists as we went into the trade fair.
The trade fair was enormous and plenty of room to move about. The funny/ironic thing is that the hotel book a tobacco convention right next to the FTD convention...flowers and cigar smoke! You could smell cigar smoke in every part of the main floor.
Las Vegas was hot. I think with the heat index it was 110 so being out at the pool meant being IN the pool.
I wonder if there is any word yet on where the next convention will be? There are still many people out there for Wednesday but we headed back today so I could get back into the store tomorrow.
