"My husband just sent me beautiful roses from your flower shop. Is there anything toxic sprayed on them?"

"Sprayed on them? Not really, there may be some leaf shine from the greenery. Why, is there something wrong with the roses?"

"Oh, no. I'm making him a special dinner tonight and wanted to pull off some petals to put on the salads. So it's ok to eat them, right?"

Thud...Silence..."Oh no, please don't eat them."

Oh No!!

LOL, too funny! Speaking of which...I have a good one too! I about fell over from a laugh attack when I was told this story, I couldn't believe that she admitted it.

A family friend (after telling this story I am almost afraid to admit that) of ours got a ton of planters for her grandmother's funeral. She was looking at one from my shop in particular and she swore that it was silk. She even placed a bet with her husband that it was silk. They placed their bets. Instead of maybe poking their finger in to see if there was DIRT in the pot the woman BIT into a piece of the leaf. (At this point in the story I was in hysterics) About fifteen seconds later her mouth started stinging, and turning numb, and stinging some more. She said that it was like she had been injected with novicane. She couldn't talk, her mouth felt like it was huge, and her throat was burning. She said it took 30 minutes before her mouth was back to normal!!

I am still not sure what plant it was that she decided to munch on but, I bet she will never do it again!!!

<rolling on the floor & gagging>

had a similar "experience" with my NOW WIFE back in high school chem class!!
The "gaggle of geese "er girls" that sat behind me, challenged Sandie to prove how "smitten" I was with her when she agreed to our FIRST DATE!!
Sandie said "hey Mikey, since I AGREED to go out with you (OUT LOUD OF COURSE), you NOW can do something FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!
"ANYTHING" I replied out loud!!
"Take a big sniff outta test tube #6!!" (we were using our senses of taste, smell, touch etc. to determine the contents of 10 different test tube contents)
IT WAS AMMONIA!! (couldn't breathe for maybe 5 years!!)
then we got married........

Thanks for the smile :)

I wonder if it would have been a diffenbachia, a "dumbcane". Sounds like it probably was.

Felicity, Actually this could have been serious.

It probably was a Dieffenbachia. The potential for swelling inside the mouth and possible suffocation does exist.

Ob and by the way, keep dieffenbachias away from cats. Dogs are smarter and they know better.:)
