Early this morning a series of explosions were followed by a massive fire at a propane storage facility in North York. 12000 people have been evacuated from their homes and transferred to York University until they are given the all clear to return.

This reporter is just on the outskirts of the evacuation area and is hunkered down in the bunker watching the developments on the TV.

No flower shops that belong to the FCC are in the area.

Thankfully there have not been any fatalities, but there have been injuries and property damage.

Fire Officals are crediting the freakish amount of rain we have been recieving as mitigating the effects of the fire.

More reports will follow.

Doug Hatcher Flower Chat News Reporter over and out.

Fire continues, but getting it under control.

The fire is under control, but still burning.

The evacuation is still on.

It was a 6 alarm fire.

A Fire Fighter has died while fighting the fire.

18 hurt

1 missing

The 401 Highway form the 404 to 400 is still closed. The 401 across Toronto is called the busiest section of Highway in North America.

The fire ball was seen 30km away (18 miles)

Many homes and businesses have been damaged. There is a massive Police presence to prevent looting.

Doug do they have any idea yet as to the cause of the explosions?

This was really bad. It was a huge explosion. What a thing to wake up to in the middle of the night.

Turns out I was further from the evacuation area than first reported. I must have been in deep REM sleep, I did not hear anything. The dogs didn't hear anything either or they would have been barking.

How scary! Keep us updated Doug.
