I'm stumped! Hope to get some cool ideas for a birthday gift for my new boyfriend. We have been dating for 6 weeks. A little info: He's 6'10", smokes, (cigs & um...reefer-contrary to popular belief...I don't!) writes music, plays guitar, is a loner type of dude, former nuclear engineer, (brilliant) likes to eat at places I hate...diners, Wendy's, food that is not what I consider good for you. His birthday is October 20th...so help! FAST!

A gift certificate for a really nice restaurant. Therefore becoming a special evening you can both enjoy... you take the lead for the night. His birthday your date plan. Flowers of course are on the adgenda. You pick him up... you know role reversal. :)

Or, you could give him a quit smoking kit ;) (smoking is a deal breaker for me).

Don't buy him stuff, rather plan a day or weekend away. Perhaps on the Ocean or maybe even Atlantic City, you may be able to catch a show. This time of year a weekend at a rustic B&B or nice lodge on a lake might be nice too. Tickets to a concert would work too.

I'm with Missy... no stuff. It's better to build memories.

Sex toys! :blowkiss:

Or

For people who have everything, sometimes an experience is a great gift. Like a trip somewhere cool, a concert, etc.

A controversial T-shirt,some music paper wrapped with guitar strings, take him to his favorite diner(you can eat before).Remember it's his birthday...hint to him you dont need sex toys...hm..hm..

A brilliant guy who loves music! Sounds like you are having a fun time with your beau.

I would have to 4th or 5th the concert idea. My boyfriends in a past life were all guitar playing brilliant hippie types and they all *loved* live music so much.

(uhm... I guess now that I think about it, my husband really likes it too)

This kind of guy will like a gizmo. My recommendation would be:

1) A programmable robot (http://www.robobrothers.com/) This thing is way too cool and affordable.

If you want to spend more than $1,000, you can get a more decent robot. Do google search.

2) A singing synthesizer software called "vocaloid" developed by Yamaha. Take a look at here: http://www.vocaloid.com/en/index.html for further info. It's basically a computer-generated human-voice singing a song. He will love it.

Here's one example of how this software "sings" a song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQEmghcmDGY
