Mark McFall of Florist SEO Watch has been blogging about the search results for the term "Thanksgiving Flowers" and got a lengthy anonymous comment from what sounds to be an OG. Go over to his post to read it in entirety. Here are a few snippets:

Wow, by the time the "big boys" actually start to notice your site, it will take them less than 1 week to black hat your site completely out of SERPs.
It's threats like this that make my blood boil. "Shut up or you will be destroyed."

You, then, like all people who refuse to embrace change and learn for it, will realize what an utter waste of time you have spent in pursuing Negativity.
Allow me to interpret: Resistance is futile. You must roll over & submit to the WS machine, and learn to like it.

The anonymous dude then goes on to say how negativity destroys florists and that all it really takes is a positive attitude and pretty flowers to succeed. Sadly, it's just not true and there are a lot of nice florists with beautiful flowers seeing steep declines in sales.

I left a comment in the thread.

Add Mark's RSS feed to your reader. He's been posting away and has some interesting observations about the current SERPs.

Thanks Cathy. I too think it is an OG that has been monitoring my blog. The poster made a subtle reference to an earlier post I made on "outing" websites that I think sparked his resentment.

Something tells me he/she is one of the sites I've already covered.

I love the laser focus of your blog Mark - helping figure out how they do it.

Much different than trying to stop them, but figuring out how to do it better ourselves better (or tactics to stay away from) Cathy said it very well.

You're doing something right, and tho there's an element of truth to the florists needing to change - they're talking to the wrong person.

I've gotten some hate mail over the years too, one snail mail that was going to "drive me out of business". Anonymouse stuff like this is something to laugh about.

Rock on
