Hi Gang:

I'm putting together a reading list for my class, and I'd love to include some of your recommendations. What books do you use, read and refer to? Which websites (besides this one, of course) do you visit for information, tips, and support?

Thanks in advance for all your valuable input!

Sierraflowerfinder.com - great reference site.
Human Flower Project.com
JTV

Royer's book on How to run a Flower Shop Profitably (something like that);
any book by Paula Pryke - there are several;
Better Home & Gardens Complete Guide to Gardening;
any Ortho Plant Care book;
House Plant Expert - DG Hessayon (easy reading for plant care);
Avi Adler & David Starke's recent event book (can't remember the name - great pics)

That's all I can think of right now, I'll try to remember more.

Tracey

Phil Rulloda's book is my constant inspiration.

Ralph Null's books are good also, even his cookbook!

Here are some good books that'll help any business owner.

Blink, Freakonomics, and Your Marketing Sucks.

After reading these you'll have a better understanding of how people really think, and it'll likely save you a boatload in advertising dollars.

the single most important book, IMO, about making your floral business a success has been this resource, the Small Business Survival Guide.

Yes, i've also read this book. Something i picked up from reading it is that it's always your own responsibility to get those reports done.. analyze the numbers.. see where you are financially. a job many leave to their accountants instead.

magazines

They may want to take a look at Florist Review and Floral Management magazines. Both offer a wide array of topics.
I think Florist Review is getting better and better - sitting here reading a stack of them today. Various marketing tips, state of the industry issues and design ideas.

Plus, they have this site listed and it is an interesting business:
http://houseofpetalsla.com/
Online shopping, event design and even rent out their space for events.
