Noticed a couple threads about product availability and also the short
availability of boronia. Which I too always thought was a very
short season. I have a bride that want it for a late October wedding.
I first told her it was seasonal and would not be available. Then I
checked the availability of it on the California Cut Flower website. It
says it is available 11 months out of the year. Is this a mistake or it is
available other months besides the spring months?

While I love the CCFC site, the seasonal availability charts are overly optimistic (in the kindest sense of the word).

Have never seen Boronia in October. Would hot pink dianthus or pink pepper berries work?

Thanks for confirming what I thought was true. We had never seen borona any other time as well but some things do change and I like to keep that in mind. Thanks for the additional suggestions. The bride's colors are fern and fushia. The boronia she wants used in the boutonnieres, an accent of color in ivory bridesmaids bouquets and some of the centerpieces at the reception.

Call Lisa at June.com. I seem to think that they had it last year at that time????

It is in season September-October here in Australia so not likely you could get it same time of year in the northern hemisphere

People used to pick it growing wild in the bush and sell it at Perth train station, this is about 40 years ago according to my Dad. The man calling out "Sweet smelling boronia, thruppence a bunch" was a herald of spring.

These days we can't sell it as it is just too expensive, licences are now required to pick it in the national parks.

Good to see our natives are so popular in the rest of the world. :ausflag:
