Been researching all of the threads for the Kansas symposium. Wanted to also see the designs and especially the critiques for those but could not access, I suppose because the group is probably closed.

I will be going to Boston this year to test for CFD, and I believe Lori is still planning on it too.

Anybody else?

I will not be staying for the symposium, have to close my shop in order to test. I just thought it would be fun to know who else would be testing, if any.

I am testing, I just got my book and will be taking the written in a couple of days...

The book is awesome...I cannot believe the inforamtion in that thing....Holy crap, just flipping through I was getting so excited..I cannot wait to read the special event part in super detail...I looked as though I could learn a whole lot, in prep to talking to event coordinators and sound intelligent...

I have decided to make up sheets of 4 $10.00 off coupons and sell them for $20.00 to help defray the cost of the test, if I can manage to sell 85 of them, the whole program is paid for...I am alos going to symposium, I am closing for the week and people are just going to have to like it, I am paying a whole lot to do this and I will be a better designer and business operator for it...Good luck, Linda and we will have to get lunch together and sit and chat...I could probably make some plans to show you around of come to my house, I live 15 minutes away from Boston...

We need to get together with Helen, (Concorde) too.

It looks as though we will be there Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. (Hubby hopefully coming along for the ride.)

The Kansas city threads were'nt a part of FC per se........We had established a community group for that. Can't recall who started the group though. Regretfully, I won't be in Boston this year. In order for me to attend Southern symposium, I chose to forego Southern. However, I plan on going to San Francisco symposium next year.

Tell you what........since I won't be in Boston. I'll do like Sarah is doing with the prom thread. Perhaps Carol, Cathy, Joanne, and some of other AIFD members will join in and we'll give you at least one tip per day that we have seen in judging/evaluating/testing that we feel helped us.

I'll start it off with this: Pay close attention to the 'DESIGN CATEGORY' - If they ask for a attendant's bouquet ( don't make it as large as you would a bride's bouquet ), in other words, make it LOOK like what it should be. If they ask for an over the shoulder corsage.......extend it out to make it OVER the shoulder. If they ask for a baby arrangement - and you submit fruit and flowers....that's not very baby-ish.

Really listen to the organizers..........

Passed my test with a 91%, woot, woot!!!

I have already been asked to design in Boston!!!
 
Hey Linda, Don't know what route you are driving to go from MN to MA, but if it takes you thru the Cleveland area, please stop for breakfast or lunch or dinner with me! There's a lot of east-west traffic that comes thru here via I-80 and I-90, both of which are close to me. Sarah

PS - I just mapquested it and yep, it takes you thru Cleveland via the Ohio Turnpike, I-80. We have negotiated cheap rates at decent hotels because we have so many out of town customers. And Cleveland is exactly half way (the 11 hour point out of a 22 hour drive.) Yep. You're stopping. :) :)
