Recently heard about a wedding where a cage broke off from the handle of a bouquet holder. (flowers and wet foam in cage, broke off from the handle).

Not sure of the details of how it happened, nor do I know if it was a lomey or an oasis holder.

Was this a freak incident?

Theresa:
We had this happen once about 10 years ago, when the new straight handled holders first came out. the cage & Oasis just separated right from the handle! (3 bouquet holders -- all Large sized)
I was servicing that wedding & witnessed it first-hand.

We were never able to figure out quite why it happened, but have checked every holder since, to make sure they are ok. Never had another problem.

Regards,
Cheryl

Yep.

Had that happen to me two weeks ago. I happened at the shop

the cage holding the oasis was not properly snapped in place, once the water and the flowers were inserted, the snap gave way and the flowers spilled out. -- still intact and in oasis.

One of my designers always wires the cage to the handle, to guard against this. she probably uses a #26 wire

Good idea to secure holder cage. I've also had Mache oasis wreath foam break away. Now we tape each section in place & add a hanger when they arrive. Good to go when we need them. Debbie

When we get a box of holders in we wire all of them first thing before use & before storage- just prevention- had one do the same thing when I was working on it- have wired them since- and obviously not alone- what a nice feeling!

I always wire with a green chenille stem. I don't care how secure it looks, I don't like to take a chance. Better safe than sorry.

This is a little different than a bouq. holder coming apart. We had a 24" solid oasis heart come apart at the funeral home. The oasis just let go from the mache backing. and fell off. OOOOOPS. The furneral director called and Jo went up there and the two of them put it back to gether in his flower room. LOL The funeral director has no trouble reconstructing faces he said a heart was no problem at all.

Never had it happen before or since but am very very careful now.
