Well good morning everyone... I hope today is a very active and profitable day for each of you.

Reading the Mercury message from FTD late yesterday, I see where they are doing each filler fool a favor by promoting (finally) florist delivered products on their front page today, and asking you to all stay open on the 14th so they can send you all these wonderful (heavily discounted) orders, so you can make THEM look like the hero. FTD claims they are doing this for you, not direct shipping that is for Sunday. Do they have a choice? To my limited knowledge there is not FED/UP delivery on Sunday...

And listening to the ProFlowers commercials has almost gotten revolting, with them bashing real florists and our product and services. But that's OK, cuz now you get to help them look good too, by filling all their $19.95 free vase dozen rose orders through Teleflora...

I spoke with Vinnie last night, he's been my UPS driver for 20 years now...we talked about boxed flowers, and he mentioned that yesterday (it was 25 degrees here) of the 11 boxes he had on his route that 9 were not home, and left on the porch, first one at about 8 am... He and I both laughed, knowing that they would be frozen by late afternoon, but it's sad too because a recipient is going to have a bad experience with flowers. He mentioned that when the boxes arrive at the local depot, that many of them are already in bad shape, bent, crushed, with holes and torn. Their contract states simply that they WILL LEAVE the package in a conspicuous location at the delivery address, and that that is where their responsibility ends.

Ya'll keep filling those company orders... help them look good and assist them in continuing to remove the profits from the industry...it's all good~!

one of my customers works for Fedx. He commented (as I took his order) the FX must have made pretty good deal with pf ($$) to deliver on sunday. the requirement for the GRand Rapids hub was 20 drivers for sunday. and yes hes says they leave them if they are not home

our temp yesterday was 25

A couple folks have mentioned that UPS is delivering Sunday. Here too kind of, actually my UPS driver is my store driver today... he says he does 125-140 on an average day for UPS, so he should be able to handle today all by himself. You should have seen his astonishment when I explained that you can't leave flowers on the porch... "say what? we do it all the time!"

I wonder how many deliveries per truck UPS has to do to break even on labor/fuel today to make it worth while. Most large markets I can see it working, Dallas, New York, Atlanta and the like, but Midland MI not so much.

Have a great day everyone...

Be blessed~!

Well if the customer is paying $35.00 for delivery they in many cases would be paying more for the delivery then the flowers. I got to wonder how many people got suckered into that delivery charge?

"FedEx employees are specially trained to properly handle ProFlowers' shipments as they go through the distribution process, so they are great to work with this Valentine's Day season."
Who are they trying to kid? Specially trained to kick boxes? Specially trained to leave them on the porch in freezing/boiling weather?
