Not sure if anyone or everyone has joined this group on Facebook - "Boycott Florist Order Gatherers", but they are compiling a list of florists that fill direct orders 80/20. Great way to get your name and info out there and network with other wire free florists.

There's a great graphic on the site from Karen Strapp showing Local Vs. OG:thumbsup

I joined, I have been getting so many direct orders and having to send many of mine out that I am starting to embrace the 80/20 split for florists, I still don't like it especially if they are getting a serice charge, but I am starting to be ok with it, if it means helping to stop the insanity, it will be ok n my book...

I would prefer a ban the 80/20 and couple that with a ban the 3.5x markup group. Both would serve the average retail florist better in the long run.

3.5x+ markup group also get 20% labor on top or do they lump everything in together and get all their overhead covered in one charge?

Duane, I don't understand ban the 3.5 mark up? I didn't want to play Boss's game on the other thread because not only was the profit nonexsistant but my cost of goods isn't close to 35% and if i'm completely honest it's hardly under 48%. I mark up most of the fresh 3.5 and all containers and giftware 2.5. If you're not marking up 3.5 how can your cog be 35%
I'm frustrated with my cog but not enough to skip the wholesaler and buy direct. The bulk of my business is funeral and its too last minute. I would give up the 80/20 if necessary but the bottom line is - this is a business and we need to make a profit to survive.
