I thought I would start a new thread and post weekly on Brent's condition. I spoke at length with his doctor today. Brent's chances of survival are 30-50% with the sepsis. He is in ICU and the doc says he will be on the ventilator for at least another week, possibly two. It's touch and go at this point and will be for some time. He has a long journey ahead and the road will not be easily traveled.

I am returning to the shop tomorrow. Thank God I have a wonderful staff who have been running the shop in my absence like it was their own. I feel like I have to regain a sense of "normalcy" whatever that is! I will visit Brent every night. The trip to the hospital is 3 hours there and back, but ya know...I will do whatever it takes to give the man I love the will to continue living.

Thanks to all of you who have truly been a family for your continued thoughts, prayers, calls, PM's, etc. I am blessed to have you by my side during this ordeal.

Please don't feel that you have to post here. I know that you all care. I will use this thread to update his progress. I only ask that you continue to keep Brent in your thoughts and prayers.

What Robin said... take care of you Dianne. You're no good to anyone if you get sick.

I missed the original post and just caught up. I'm so sorry that you and Brent are going through this. You are both in my prayers.

Same here. Out of town for several days.

Dianne, you know that I'm praying for you and Brent.

I'll be thinking only good thoughts for you and Brent.
PLEASE take care of yourself.

Jennifer

We're keeping the prayers going... take some time for yourself.

Love ya,

I just returned from visiting Brent in the hospital. He is still on the ventilator and lots of IV's. I am posting because tonight was the first night since last Saturday that I noticed a difference. His coloring was different...he looked "alive" to me. Maybe it's just wishful thinking or the nurse's words who was on duty tonight. She was so positive and encouraging. She told me he looked better to her as well and that soon enough he would be going through rehab. I really needed some encouragement today. I have hardly slept at all for almost a week. Time will tell. I realize Brent is not out of the woods yet. I stood next to his bedside for an hour and chatted about everything...including the well wishes he has received from FlowerChat.

You know...I knew I was in love with Brent, and I always told him so every day...but, I never realized how DEEP my love is for him until he fell so ill. I can't bear the thought of losing the love of my life. Please hold your loved ones close and tell them every day how much you love them. Make every day special and never be afraid to speak from your heart.

I started writing a journal about his illness two days after he entered the hospital. Writing every night helps me cope and I thought it would be interesting for Brent to read when he recovers. The journal is private right now, but I make make it public before too long.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Easter! My daughter and son-in-law called me this evening and told me they were going to drive me to the hospital tomorrow. it is a three hour drive there and home. They are so sweet and loving. I wanted them to spend Easter with my daughter's husband's family, but my son-in-law got on the phone and told me that he would trash my house if I wasn't here when he arrived Easter morning! I am blessed to have them by my side.

Please continue to pray for Brent this Easter Day.

I haven't stopped praying Dianne! He will be ok...just keep talking to him!

My heart goes out to you. I am keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you find comfort in your family and friends, and the blessings of Easter. Take care.

Diane, sorry I guess I don't read the Chat forum very often, I had no idea Brent was ill. Sounds as though he is slowly improving, I'll be praying for the two of you and hoping he gets better soon. Take of yourself or you will be ill too, need to keep your strength up girl.

Take care,
Trish
