The biggest news on the world cup of hockey last week , not the games , hardly anybody south of the border bothered to watch team USA , but 20 year vet Brett Hull is upset that at his age his on ice role is diminished and he was sat out of the only American win against Slovakia on Friday night , and practised with the non starters on Saturday . Reporters asked him about the fans reaction to this development and he said F*%k the fans. What a highclass act, but not his first, we remember when he couldn't get a starting role with team Canada back in the mid 80's , his reaction , roughly the same, only it was directed at Mike Keenan the coach. And the persistant rumours that it was Brett or Jeremy Roenick who distroyed the room at the Nagano olympics in 1998. Someone please give this baby a pacifier until he acts his age and accepts that advancing age means declining skills , and he may have to take a backseat to younger and faster players. He should grow up and shut up.

It is a team sport.

It is a team sport. It is Team U.S.A. not Team Brett Hull.

Not to get off topic but Mario Lemieux is amazing. Did you see him hold the guy off with one hand and put a perfect one handed pass right on the net?

Go Team Canada. :canuck:

Sorry I have only seen bits snd pieces and not one bloody goal . Mario is amazing but is not whimpering on his reduced ice time on this version of team Canada . In case nobody has noticed he is on the 3rd line , but not a sound. But then again he has always been a class act , not like Brett. Of what I've seen , I'm totally impressed by the 3 players from Tampa Bay , Martin St. Louis, Vinnie Lecavilier and Brad Richards, if Tampa can keep this core of players together for the next 10 years , lots of cups will end up in Florida.

Hopefully the NHL players will get a clue from the TV ratings in the States , the world series of poker claimed over 1.5 million tvs sets last night , the semi-final of the world cup of hockey got 300,000 sets , if people down there won't watch a team assembled from the best of their pros ,can't hope to draw enough interest to make advertizers pay for regular hum-drum games in the regular season. Nine new teams in the last 12 years and most in financial trouble , even a lot of older established teams having a hard time, time to swallow their pride and put in a salary cap and ensure that the teams all survive so they get to keep the jobs.
