I thought this thread would be something of substantive value for florists.

Last Saturday, I made this bouquet for a wedding today. The bride needed her bouquet last week for a portrait.

I spritzed this with water/floral mist, and stuck a plastic bag over when it was returned last Sat. During the week, I added water.

Outside of a few marginal orange roses, the bouquet held up well and I could have used it for today's wedding.

However, the ribbon wrapped handle was pretty wet, so I decided to make a new bouquet. All in all, the Callas, hydrangeas and mini gerbs were surprisingly turgid!!!!

The roses were the weak link. I recycled all flowers except a few roses.

After reading some of the threads this week and last week, I think threads like this are most important and deserving. (even if I have to self promote myself -- some of you will understand)

sorry for the poor picture, note the gerbs, hydrangeas and callas, ignore the roses as I subbed them out.

Joe, those gerbs are sweet! Were they SA, Calif, Canadian?

Joe, this is a great tip. We did a couple bridal shows back to back a couple years ago. I just couldn't see throwing out good flowers after the first show, so I did the same thing: covered them, misted and checked the water in the holder every day. Two weeks later they were just as fresh as the day they were made! So, we used them again in the second show. Meanwhile I had professional photos and posters made of them, so it was kind of neat to see the actual bouquets right in front these huge posters....people loved the bouquets and the way they were displayed. See bridal show #2 photo here (not a great pic): http://www.summerlandflowersandgifts.com/id18.html

Who would have guessed the roses would give it up and interesting about the hydrangea leaf, I hardly use them because they wilt so bad.

nice work Joe.

I am assuming this was done in an oasis holder??

I was guessing that it was hand tied, expecting it to hold up so well only if it were out of the foam. Live, read FC, and learn.

How that my friend is the difference in good quality flowers and mediocre quality....I would guess that the roses didn't hold up as good because of the bag and the very high humidity made them softer where as the hydrangeas got crisper....but outstanding lasting power...thanks for posting, even if you are tooting your own horn, we learn from that..
